My Favorite Things About Buffy
"In every generation there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of evil. She is the slayer..." She is Buffy Anne Summers. Buffy was a shallow highschool cheerleader the most popular, superficial girl in school- an L.A belle. And then she found out she was the slayer, the one girl in all the world who could fight back against the supernatural. And so the legacy began.
After burning down Hemery high gym, to kill vampires, Buffy and her mother Joyce moved to cheery sunnydale (population 38,500) as Buffy swore she was out of the slaying game for good.
However Buffy met school librian Rupert Giles, who informed her that she was living on the Hellmouth, a centre of mystical energy. When the Hellmouth opens all hell will rule on earth.
Buffy quickly makes friends with the dorky comical xander and sweet shy willow. She meets the dark mysterious Angel who she later finds out is a vampire and the venomous Cordeilia Chase.
Despite a brief bout of dying Buffy managed to defeat the Master and spent the summer in LA with her father.
In her sophmore year of highschool Buffy became more deeply involved with Angel, vampire with a soul, and then after making love, he lost that soul and turned into Angelus. Angelus was on a mission to kill Buffy and end the world and in a heartbreaking season finale Buffy had to kill her soulmate just as his soul was returned to save the world being swallowed into hell by the demon Acathla. Buffy fleed from sunnydale being accused of the murder of kendra, the slayer called when buffy was briefly dead, kicked out by her mother who finally knows Buffy's slayer status and expelled from school.
In her final year of highschool Buffy got Angel back only to lose him again as he left in an attempt to give her 'a normal life'. She also came across faith- the vampire slayer gone bad, too in love with the killing.
In her fourth year in Sunnydale Buffy went to UC sunnydale and fell in love with soldier boy Riley Finn. Her relationships with the scoobies became difficult but ultimately they joined together to beat the big bad Adam and the government agency The Initiative.
In the fifth year Buffy began to question the nature of the slayer, whether being a slayer meant being a killer and hard, unable to love. This was partly fuelled by the leaving of Riley, after he felt she didnt love him. Buffy also aqcuired a sister, Dawn, in this year, really a key to break down the walls between dimensions sent in the form of a sister so that Buffy would protect her with her life. Buffy lost her mother to a brain tumour and had to grow up in this season.
Buffy made the ultimate sacrifice for Dawn giving her own life over Dawn's and proving that death was her gift.
However for Buffy, death wasn't the end. Willow resurrected her, believeing she was pulling Buffy out of an untold hell dimension. However Buffy had gone to heaven and was pulled into what she believed was hell by her friends. In a desperate attempt to be able to feel anything she embarked on a destuctive relationship with bleached bloodsucker Spike. When she managed to break it off he tried to rape her. In a horrible year for Buffy where Willow almost destroyed the world, Buffy promised sister Dawn that she was going to show her the good things in life.
But nothing is ever that simple. In this, the final year, Buffy and her friends are battling against the first evil, the source of all evil in the world. It will be a dramatic finish and who knows what lays in store for the girl who has saved the world so often?
