smoke billows upward

from the toppled skyline below

the silence

sits heavy in the chaos

the silence

weighs heavy on the soul

the first voice emerges

the first name is said

a face given to a faceless tragedy

the first count

of the impossible

the first step

towards the unimaginable

lost…

mothers, fathers

sisters, daughters

sons and daughters

families broken

a nation

come together

to support

and help

and to eventually heal

but overall

to prove

that the nation

still stands

as one

in the face of terror

and to show

that we will not fall
