a single light in the bitter night

lends no warmth to the cold

the fresh salt air prickles my skin

as I walk the beach alone

the tide pulls at the sand beneath my feet

and your memory pulls at my heart

an angel you were, will forever be

but now you have fallen from heaven

your eyes showed such promise

and I believed you could do anything

the devil came and claimed my happiness

and left me only with your broken wings

my tears are shed on this beach, alone

joining the sea of so many others

a single light in the bitter night

will never be extinguished in my heart
