Profile

I figured it’s time to write an actual profile about myself, but I warn you it might be a lot, because I know quite a bit about myself, maybe not everything, but a lot. I love writing about everything and anything, and generally write in a very serious tone depending on my mood, which may give you the wrong idea about me… I’m in a very serious mood right now. I’ll admit though, that I don’t believe reading a ‘my space profile’ is the proper way of getting to know someone, which is why I suggest if you really want to get to know me… talk to me, introduce yourself, set up a date, etc. I’m only writing this profile incase anybody may be interested in who I am, so I can get to know more people (Which I want to do), as like anyone else on the internet. Especially child rapists. I’ll try my best not to make myself sound like I’m better then anyone, which a lot of people try to do on the internet… I’ll just give the straight forward, and do with it what you will.

the facts:
My full name is Tyler James|Daniel Shoemaker. Yeah I have two middle names, so I guess I don’t have a actual middle name. I was born on December 21st, 1987, the darkest day of the year (the winter equinox). I'm the only person in my family with colored eyes. I am considered left handed, but can draw and write fine with my right. I just finished my 5th year at St. Joseph’s High school, not because I failed but mainly to upgrade some marks for university applications, but also to stick around and party for another year while I’m still young. Considering I’m quite young for my grade, I seem to get along well with all the people I met this year in school, and I’m sure I’ve definitely made some life-long friends… I love film, though I'm very picky when it comes to what I veiw as decent cinema. I've made a few short films, a few of which have won various awards at film festivals. One in particular that I should mention, was 'A short film on death,' which won best film at Sprocket's Toronto International Film Festival in 2005. I met and talked to a few famous film-makers and had a few television and radio interveiws which was an awesome experiance. I’m currently attending the University of Windsor (Starting September), majoring in Communications & Visual arts. I personally think I’m not going to like the program, but I’m hoping to eventually get into Ryerson University in Toronto, for film (As in, motion picture/cinema).

My future goals consist of working somewhere in the art/entertainment industry in California (L.A.), British Columbia or Toronto… Possibly somewhere in Europe as well, but right now that thought kind of scares me because it’s far from my beloved home country. I don’t want (or strive) to be rich, but if I ever fall into that fortunate situation, I’ll be sure to give all the money I don’t need to the people who need it… Because money is only real to those who don’t have it. Money and things are impermanent, so why hang on to them? Lately I’ve been interested in various chemicals and the amplifying effects they have on my mind. I’m interested in expanding my mind as much as I can, while I’m still young and immature enough to do so. Although I plan on cracking down once school starts, because I believe a secondary education is important for my success. I understand that mind altering chemicals can only interfere with that success. I believe that Right Understanding is one of the most important things in life, which stems from Buddhism. I always try to properly understand everything from every possible aspect, which is why I tend to be a pretty laid back guy. But I will admit there are many times when I over or under look something, and fall into the wrong. Proper understanding & proper action do nothing but lead me to be more happy and more self-actualized.

I’m surprisingly not very into the media… I don’t like what it does to people. If you’ve already been too badly influenced by the media, you've no idea what I’m talking about. I rarely watch television, and I’m not really into mainstream music or film. For the past two years I’ve completely given up computers and television for 40 days during lent, and I feel that giving those two machines up for that little bit of time makes me a happier and better person. I don’t believe in a limited number of religions, I think a huge part of our lives should be to create an original individual opinion on our existence, rather then sticking to mass beliefs. This way, people would learn to cherish each other (love) and share the planet, creating a warless world. I don’t particularly hate war, because things aren’t as simple as I just described, but war depresses me very much.

One thing I love is making people happy. Especially women, due to the fact that I’m male. I love to make people smile and fill them with positive energy. It isn’t very often that I make a person upset, and when it does happen it’s usually because it needs to happen in order to make everyone happy in the long run. I’ve always been a very emotional person, with extreme highs and lows. Generally my highs occur in the presence of other individuals, and lows occur when I’m alone. Because I’m emotional I’m also very passionate, with intimacy and the things I create. I like to read up on Karma Sutra and other works on love and human sexual behavior. I like learning as much as I can about the female body and reproductive system, because I find it absolutely beautiful and interesting.

I don’t really consider myself to be a musician, because I’m not in a real band, and I don’t make money from my music. Nor do I know very much music theory. I guess I’d call myself a musical artist, because one form of art that I love is music, and music is just something that constantly pours from me. I find that I get along well with other musicians and music artists. I can play acoustic and electric guitar, but my favorite instrument would have to be the piano. I hope to one day learn as many instruments as I can. The ones in particular that I’d like to learn are the piano, sitar (especially), Indian flute, left-handed guitar, violin, and the didgeridoo… These goals sound kind of unrealistic but it’s really just a matter of expense and the people I know, who can show me a thing or two. I’ve recently discovered that I don’t like loud or hard music very much, because my ears are sensitive to the high frequency detonations, and powerful percussion, which sometimes disorient me. Therefore lately I’ve been a lot more into smooth, ambient, low frequency music. It all started when I found a old record player on someone’s lawn that had a sign “Take For Free,” on it. I bought some old vinyl records and fell in love with their deep, rich, natural & soothing sound. I find it very hard to listen to music digitally now, appose to analogue. I’m currently into pink floyd, jefferson airplane, the greatful dead, the beatles (Acid period), the rolling stones, led zeppelin, opeth (Acoustic period), hendrix, frank zappa, the mars volta, and lots of other stuff that’s meant to melt your heart & mind... quietly. I’m especially into underground experimental, psychedelic, or acid jazz type stuff, and I hope to one day be recognized in the experimental music scene; not as career but more as a side project/hobby. I’m very independent when it comes to my own music, which is why I don’t do well in bands, unless I have full artistic input in the music. I plan on buying a mac powerbook within the next few months, with some recording equipment, and once I do so I will begin recording my first self titled, solo album. The album will be about the exact moment of my conception. My music is generally dark themed and instrumental, because I can say more with melody then I can with words. I think most sound artists would agree.

I’m also very into poetry. I love reading and writing poetry, generally about feelings, situations, sexual experiances, social atmospheres, beautiful women, patterns I see in nature... My style and form lacks scheme, and sometimes, emotion, often sounding childish or absurd. I rarely ever show people my poetry, because it would sound meaningless to them, but mean a very lot to me. I’m also very deeply in love with photography. I’m always reading books on photography, mostly 35mm. I collect cameras as a hobby, and I probably own close to 15 cameras. The two main cameras I use are a Canon AT-1 SLR, and a Canon AE-1 Program SLR, both 35mm format. With those, I have a 200mm, 50mm, 28mm, and 20mm lens. I generally always shoot in 35mm, black and white, because I love the depth and soft tone you get with B & W chemicals. Once I save enough, I plan on buying my own darkroom equipment and setting up my own darkroom in my house to develop my own film. After that, I’ll then get more into large format cameras, which can be very expensive, but create stunning images, depending on the format (Size of the negative). Aside from the two SLR’s I use, I also own a RICOH XR-1 SLR with a 135mm, 50mm, and 28mm, but I rarely use it anymore. I also own a 35mm pin-hole camera which I built myself, but due to the fact that it requires 20 minute exposures in dark environments, I don’t like using it, and the pictures never turn out very well…

So I guess that’s pretty much the basic stuff that I know about myself. Sorry about the lengthy essay, hopefully I don't sound like too much of a dick. I suppose I'm my own worst critic. If you want get to (really) know me a little better, just leave a message, ask to hang out or whatever… Thank you.
Peace,
Love Tyler
