Matt Lauer
Co-host of Today
Matt Lauer has been co-host of NBC News’ Today since January 6, 1997. He joined Today in January 1994 as a news host.
Lauer began his career in 1979 as a producer of the noon news on WOWK-TV in Huntington, West Virginia. In 1980, he was a reporter on the station’s 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts.
Lauer is a graduate of Ohio University. He lives in New York with his wife, Annette Roque Lauer, their son Jack, aswell as their new baby girl, Romy.
Although Katie may appear to be the energy of Today, the show wouldn’t be the same without Matt there at her side with his smart and audacious comments. It is obvious to every Today fan that the show would not be complete without the beloved Matt Lauer. I only wish that I could meet him to tell him to stop going over to dangerous parts of the world (where bombs are going off!), so that he can stop giving my friend Jac and I heart attacks! Honestly, our stress levels go up every time he’s away in the Middle East.
To see for yourself the chemistry between Katie and Matt, watch NBC Today, channel seven, 4am to 6am Tuesday to Saturday mornings (check your TV guide for time changes).
