Analog
Analog transmission is one of the popular ways to transmit signals over wires. Although people tend to look more on digital transmission system today, analog transmission system is still widely used in people¡¯s life, such like the telephone systems
To understand how analog transmission system work is
not that hard, but it requires people have little knowledge about electronic,
such as voltage and frequency. Signals transmit on the electronic circuit is
create by voltage with certain frequency. The analog signals will be exist in a
continuous waveform and send over the wire or by air and the receiving side
will decode these signals into data. Analog circuit can also handle multiplexing
technology which it can handle multiple channels in one physical line and all
these channels can transmit data at same time. The bandwidth will be increased
as more channels add on to the circuit. These channels will be separate by
difference in signal wave frequency.
After analog signals travel along the wire for a long distance, they will start getting weak. A signal amplifier can be used if people need the analog signals to transmit for long distance. The amplifier will regenerates analog signals and make these signals strong again. Noise is another major problem for analog transmission and these noises can be create by magnetic fields, electronic stuff or even naturally by lighting bolts. These noises will affect the analog transmission and mess up with the analog signals if the noise is too strong. Good quality wires with new technology will reduce the noise.
Advantage: The analog transmission system is easy to establish.
It can use multiplexing technology to put more channels on the same physical line by different frequency of the electronic to increase its bandwidth.
Disadvantage:
The analog transmission system will effect by noise and if the noise is strong, the signal will not be clear to read.
