MENTAL EVICTION NOTICE

I need to sleep
This I know
But when I do
Where will they go
When I close my eyes
And they no longer haunt me
Do they go to another
Who wants to be free
Are they my conscience
Overactive
Or is my mental protection
Way too passive
Do they plot and scheme
To drive me insane
Are they just the product
Of my dysfunctional brain
If I try just a little harder
Can I make them go away?
And if I do
Where will they stay
I've been their home
For a long time
Is killing the voices
Considered a crime
To kill them
Must I go too
I ask you please
What am I to do
