A young marriage

a young marriage

Disclaimer:
Please understand this story is complete fiction. I do not know (nor do I claim) to know the
reason behind Taylor and Natalie's marriage, other then because they are happily in love. Really it is not any of my business but this idea came into
my head one day and I decided to write it down.

Taylor squinted his eyes as the bright sunshine came through the hotel window. His head throbbed excruciatingly as he sat up in bed and noticed the sleeping figure of Natalie beside him. The alarm clock rang in his ears and he nearly knocked it off, trying to make the buzzing stop. He noticed the time read 8:05 and the thought of the night before came back to haunt him.
"God, what have I done?" He asked himself and tried to scoot off the bed, when Natalie's hand came up and touched his arm.
"Tay Im cold," She murmered and tried to pull his hand back.
"Sorry Nat, I've gotta go," He replied and scrambled for his jeans and t-shirt.
"Wait," She replied following him to the door with the sheets wrapped around her. "Your flight leaves at 11:00. I think," He reminded her and gave Natalie a quick peck on the lips. She was going back home to Georgia after a week of spring break with Taylor and his family in California. The band was recording their third major album and had rented an apartment to stay at during their time in Los Angeles.

Taylor took a taxi back to the apartment and crept through the back door as quietly as possible. He went past his parents (closed) bedroom door and made it safely to the room her shared with Isaac. When he stepped inside the door he noticed that his brother was quietly asleep in his own bed.
"Did you and Nat have fun last night?" Isaac's voice made Taylor jump as he sat down on the other twin bed.
"Uh, yeah." He mumbled, knowing that he couldn't keep his secret from his brother.
"Well, I was kinda suprised that you didn't come in last night. I thought you were gonna take Nat back to the apartment and then come on in yourself," Isaac said, noticing his brother's guilty face look down at the ground in front of him.
"We didn't do anything," Taylor replied and kicked off his shoes and jacket.
"Uh huh," Isaac mumbled with a sly look on his face.
"What does that supposed to mean?" Taylor snapped and looked angry at his brother.
"Nothing Tay, just go to sleep okay?"

Back at school, Natalie went into the bathroom to find her friend Nikkie applying a fresh coat of lip gloss to her lips.
"Hey Nat, are you doing okay?" Nikki asked with concern as she started brushing her hair.
"Im okay, it's just that I haven't had my period this month and it's late,"
"Your not pregnant are you?" Nikki asked enthusiastically and Natalie looked to see if anyone else was in the stalls. Luckily they were alone.
"No! Of course Im not pregnant. Taylor and I haven't done that except maybe once and he was really careful." She said and the girls gathered up their books as the bell rang.
"Well, you should still get checked. It doesn't take but that one time for something to happen and protection is always so safe," Nikki said as they headed off to class.

-------

"Taylor phone, it's Natalie," Jessi gave her brother the phone and he took into the bedroom.
"Hey Nat, whatcha doing?" He asked and noticed an unusual quietness from the other end of the phone.
"It's okay. How's everything going with the album?" She asks in a slow voice and Taylor thought he heard sadness behind it.
"Nat what's wrong? You seem down about something," He asked with a concerned tone and Natalie felt she had to tell him.
"Tay, it's my parents. They said I can't see you anymore,"
"What? Why? We haven't done anything," He said and suddenly remembered that night in the hotel room.
"I have to tell you something Tay and you have to promise not to be mad," She asked in a little girls voice and Taylor knew that it was serious.
"Uh okay. I promise," He said and waited for the news that he was afraid to hear.
"Taylor.....Im pregnant,"

"Pregnant! Taylor what is she doing pregnant?!" Walker Hanson asked as he paced back and forth in the living room den of the apartment condo. Isaac and Zac had taken the rest of their siblings to the movies, except for Zoe who was asleep in the room she shared with her sisters..
"Dad. Im sorry, it was an accident," Taylor replied and his voice cracked. He had never wanted this to happen and yet it had. He and Natalie had only gone out for about a year or so and they had never thought about sleeping together. That night in the hotel was just a rush of emotions and neither of them had thought about the outcome.
"Son, these things don't just happen by accident. I thought your mother and I had talked to you boys about this sort of thing. I never expected for any of you to go and screw up like this. I thought we talked about waiting for marriage or at least when your in a mature adult relationship with someone."
"Natalie is a mature relationship. We've been going out for over a year now but I never expected this to happen. I didn't want it to happen. It was a mistake," Taylor said and stared at a piece of lent that had landed on his shoe lace. Diana was still sitting quietly in a nearby chair and she hadn't said a word ever since the conversation started.
"Mature relationship. What do you know about mature relationships? Do you even love her," Walker asked and glared at his son angrily.
"Yes I love her and Im willing to do what I have to. What do her parents say?" Taylor mumbled and started picking at a fuzz on his shirt.
"What do they say? Well, after her father stopped practically cussing me out over the phone, they've decided that you both need to get a blood test done. And if you're the father, then they think you should take care of her, and the baby. We of course think you should be responsible also," Walker replied with as calm a voice as possible.
"You mean marriage?" Taylor asked but the words didn't quiet sink into his head.
"If that comes to it, then yes. We're going back to Tulsa next week so you should go get that done then," Walker said and let out a deep sigh and left the room in silence.
"Are you okay?" Taylor asked his mother who sat in shock with her head rested against the chair. Taylor knew she had been holding back tears because he could see her bright blue eyes rimming with water around the edges.
"Im fine honey. Just go to bed," She said and softly patted his hand that was on her shoulder.
"Im sorry Momma," He said in a whisper and Diana just nodded her head as the tears came rolling. Taylor quietly went up to his room leaving his mother in the dark, staring at the fire from the gas fireplace.

"The wedding's going to be in Georgia? This means I have to get a tux and everything?" Zac asked as he clicked a link on the Callaway Gardens website. Callaway Gardens was a state park in Georgia that had an old stone chapel that could be reserved for weddings.
"I guess, that's what Natalie wants," Taylor said as he held an information pamplet in his hand. "Her parent's sent this to us in the mail today. I think it has all the prices and information we need."
"Man Tay, I can't believe your getting married and I don't even have a girlfriend," Zac smiled as he went around the website looking for possible information about weddings and receptions.
"I know. It's gonna be a whole new way of life for me. I'll be a completely new person, having to adjust and all," Taylor gave a faint smile and tossed the pamplet onto the computer desk.
"Well soon or later you have to do I guess. Or at least one of us did," Zac said aloud and went over to check his hanson.net email account.
"Don't tell the fans about it yet. We need to wait until it's over before we let this one out," Taylor instructed when he saw that his brother was going into a chatroom.
"Oh yeah. How about I just announce it right now? EVERYBODY! TAYLOR'S GETTING HITCHED!" Zac typed in the message but deleted it before sending it to the message boards.
"Whatever Zac. Just don't go crazy at the wedding," Taylor shook his head at his brother and laughed.
"Okay, if I can be a groomsman," Zac laughed at himself and turned off the computer.

"Congradulations Taylor!" Ashley Greyson called as Taylor and Natalie walked out into the sunny June afternoon. They were going on their honeymoon to Hawaii and had to catch a plane back to L.A before heading out.
"Thanks man," Taylor smiled and gave his friend a hug.
"By everybody?" Natalie smiled and took Taylor's hand as they posed for a few more pictures and a basket of food.
"Are you ready for this?" Taylor asked Natalie when they had reached the airport in Atlanta and were about to board the plane.
"As ready as I'll ever be. Taylor Im so excited," She exclaimed and they settled down in their seats headed for L.A. A few hours later, they were in the Los Angeles airport when their flight for Honalulu was called and they put their bags on the conveyer belt.
"This is it," Taylor said the Natalie and squeezed her hand one last time.
"Yeah. Im actually going to Hawaii. I've always wanted to go there.” Natalie smiled as an older couple set in the seats opposite row.

”Are you kids going somewhere?” The older man man asked Taylor from his seat.
“Yes, sir. We just got married and are going to Hawaii,” He smiled and looked at Natalie.
“Ah yes. I remember Hawaii many years ago in World War II. My wife Ruth and I were stationed there when the bomb hit. Luckily we weren’t in much danger. We were in a safe area. I hope you two have a good time. By the way, my name is Hubert and this is my wife Ruth.” The man smiled and took Taylor’s hand to shake it.

Turning back to his wife, Taylor saw Natalie looking out the window as they passed over the ground below. Praying that everything would be okay, he took her hand and thought about their new life together.
A young marriage that wasn't supposed to happen would hopefully last a lifetime.
