Plot:
Julie and Kirsten help Lydia pack up her things to move in with Mark (after the
wedding). They are sorting through some old boxes and come up with a few hundred
memories.
"Hey Lydia, I found these boxes you wanted." Kirsten came into the living room where the two other women were packing up the kitchen utensils.
"Thanks, just put it over there." Lydia instructed and went back to her work.
Kirsten sat on the couch with the boxes in front of her and began opening them with
a cutting knife. After sorting through boxes of old photos and college text books,
Kirsten got to the last box, which was slightly larger then the rest. She opened the
lid and pulled away a piece of cardboard. Staring at the contents of the box, a
small tickle got caught in her throat.
"Oh my God," She mumbled loudly.
"What is it?" Julie asked and scooted over to sit beside the box. She looked inside and stared in complete shock.
Kirsten picked up a small white t-shirt and held it out in front of her. "This Time Around tour 2000" She read aloud and Lydia took the shirt from her friend and let out a small laugh.
"I can't believe you still have all this," Julie asked her as she lifted out notebooks full of posters and magazine articles. They were talking about a band called Hanson, who was their favorite music group back in high school. Now, almost 10 years later, Lydia was about the get married and she still had all the old 'fanson' memories.
"Oh yeah. Well I just never got around to throwing it away. I guess now would be the right time." Lydia flipped through the old posters and looked at the three blonde headed boys of her childhood and teen years.
"Why? You don't want Mark to think you still have a crush on Taylor Hanson do you?" Kirsten teased and threw a framed picture of the middle brother into Lydia's lap. She couldn't help but laugh as she looked down at a 14 year old Taylor smiling back back at her. His blue eyes sparkling. In the back of her mind, Lydia could remember the first time she had seen Taylor. He was on the mmmbop video and at first, she thought he was a girl. After learning more about him, Lydia was instantly hooked.
"I wouldn't be laughing Kirsten. Wasn't it you who started to name your dog 'Ikie-poo' a few months ago?" Julie came to her friends rescue as she commented on Kirsten's young love of the oldest brother Isaac.
"No it wasn't, that was my neice Meagen who couldn't pronounce his name. She kept saying Ikie-poo, instead of 'Mikie-poo. Besides, Im not about to get married in a month,"
"To bad it didn't work the first time," Lydia mumbled under her breath, but she knew that Kirsten could hear. She gave Lydia a dirty look but ignored the comment. It definetely was not her fault that the marriage was over. Jered was just a two bit low life, who only wanted to live off of Kirsten's money. What little bit she had.
"You addressed these letters but never sent them?" Julie asked and flipped through a stack of envelopes all with the Hanson address but no stamp.
"I think I meant to mail them but never got to it. Then I just didn't care after a few weeks. I didn't want my parents finding out. They all thought I was 'possessed' anyway, for being a fan. I was banned from listening to them in the house and that's why I always went over to your houses." Lydia replied.
"So that's the only reason you hung around us huh? To listen to music. Is that all we're good for?" Kirsten shot back in a half sarcastic tone. Lydia ignored it. The two had lost touch over the past few years and there were some hard feelings, but Lydia still wanted Kirsten to be one of her bridemaids. Her older sister Sharon was to be her matron of honor.
"Hey! Remember that time we skipped school to go to that concert in Seattle? Your parents wouldn't let you talk to us for nearly 3 weeks," Julie put in, trying to lighting the mood, and opened a box full of cd's, covered in shrinkrap. She unrapped them and took out a random cd.
"Where's your cd player?" She asked and ran off to find the old cd player hidden in a corner.
"Oh God. Here we go," Kirsten shook her head as the first few chords of mmmbop came on and Julie started dancing around the room.
"Come on guys. This is great!" She smiled as she sang along with the lyrics.
"How old is she?" Kirsten rolled her eyes and Lydia shrugged her sisters as Julie pulled her bye the hand and they both started dancing around.
Kirsten shook her head as she watched her two best friends dancing around like 13 year olds. Julie always was the hyper one, but still wanting to make peace with everyone. She's mostly like the youngest Hanson brother Zac. From what we know, (or assume). Julie is practically Zac's spit image. Except she's a 26 year old woman and Zac's a man now. That's probably why she named her son Zachary John after all these years.
Lydia on the other hand, was more like the middle brother Taylor. They were both born
in March so automatically, Lydia was taken with him. She even cried when she found out
that he got married at 19. His wife Natalie got pregnant and they had a baby named Jordan
Ezra. As far as we know, they are still happily married. After Lydia found that out,
she still listened to their music, despite her teenage heart-ache and went through two
more albums, 'Underneath' and 'Pathways' before she stopped following their career.
Mark is nothing like Taylor, in appearance wise. He has dark curly hair and light green
eyes, and he's Irish in descent. He came over to America to study Journalism and that
where he meet Lydia. He's actually her better half and is completely devoted to her
in everything she does.
Despite her denial, Kirsten has always been in love with Isaac. She's probably the most die-hard fan after all these years because Jered never made her feel like the 'illusion' of Isaac had. Even though her thoughts of him weren't real, Jered never tried to treat her like a husband should. He always went away on business meetings and one night Kirsten called his hotel room, to hear the voice of another woman. (And She wasn't the the cleaning lady, mind you.)
