That night, Taylor lay awake in bed at his apartment. He began to fell lonely and started thinking about Sarah. He knew that she needed some major professional help but that she also needed someone to listen to her problems.BR>Of the little time he had spent with her, Taylor felt strangely close to Sarah. Even though he may not have known even little detail of her past, and even though they hadn't had a decent conversation, he felt that he could be the one to help.
All of a sudden there came a small knock at the front door. Taylor looked at the clock and saw that it was nearly 2:00 in the morning. He thought that it was nothing, until it came again and this time more forceful. He quickly got up and went down the hall to the foyer.
Taylor looked out the peep hole in the door and who did he see?
Sarah
He gave a deep sigh of frustration, but quickly opened the door.
"What are you doing here?" He asked as Sarah moved past him into the hallway.
"I had to get away from there Tay. Im not going to that school. I can't, their horrible to me and she can't make me." Sarah said and sat down on the couch. Taylor saw that she was almost in tears.
He sighed to himself, thinking of the night that Avery had ran away from home because of her argument with their parents.
"Sarah, you need help. You need to see a doctor and I hate to tell you this, but Im not the one to help you with this. Yeah, I can be here if you want to talk but you need to take you medicine, talk with your mom." He tried to explain without making her feel worse.
"You don't understand. I can't talk to her. All she want's to do is send me away to that camp. I ran away from there to get away from all of that. I came back home and she thought maybe I could get a job but that didn't work out and here I am. With you," Sarah said and looked at him.
Taylor swallowed hard and remembered that he didn't have a shirt on. "Uh...I'll be right back," He stammered and went to his room and grab a shirt. He came back and Sarah was still sitting on the couch looking at a magazine.
"You want something to drink?" He asked and Sarah nodded shyly. She followed him into the kitchen and he gave her a glass of water.
"Your mom seem's to care about you very much. Despite how you think she does," Taylor said taking a sip of his water.
"You try living with her for a day. She run's my life and I can't do anything. I can't have fun and hang out with friends," Sarah commented as she sat down at the table.
"Maybe that's the problem. Maybe you won't let her take care of you or help you," Taylor said and saw Sarah begin to get angry.
"How can you say that?! Your taking her side! I came here and thought I could stay with you, but your just like her! You want me to go away!" Sarah slammed down her glass and stood up. "Fine! Just fine! You stay here and I'll go some place else where Im wanted, needed. I don't need you or my mother!" She replied with tears in her eyes. She grabbed her bags and headed toward the door, when Taylor caught her in his arms.
"Sarah no! No, listen to me! Where will you go? Who will you stay with?" He asked and held Sarah by the shoulders.
"Im going to stay with my father. He'll take care of me! I can always trust him," She said and Taylor took her into a hug.
"Honey, your father's gone. He's gone Sarah," He said quietly into her hair and Sarah began to sob softly.
"No. No your wrong! He's not dead, he's not, he's..."She said and finally broke down. Sarah sank to the floor and began sobbing uncontrollably when there was a knock at the door.
Taylor held Sarah in his arms as he opened the door. Linda was at the door with matted hair and she looked like a nervous reck. She was standing in front of a large man in a police uniform.
"Sarah! Where have you been?!" Linda asked and she (and the officer) came in the room.
It had been nearly a month since Taylor saw Sarah. That night she was taken to the psychiatric ward at the hospital for treatment. Linda told Taylor and the Hanson family that Sarah was going to go to a better treatment facility in Oklahoma City for help.
One day as Taylor was checking his mail, he saw a small white envelope addressed solely to him. He opened the stiff piece of stationary to see a long letter written in sloppy handwriting. It said.
How is the family? Are your parent's gonna have another baby? I sure hope not, cause then you'd be like that show "Just the ten of us". Are Zac and Isaac still mad at me? They must have thought I was a real "witch". How are Mackie, Jessie, Zoe and Avery doing? But the way, how is Avery's leg? I bet she's as good as new, right about now.
Listen, Im really sorry about that night at the Rave. I didn't mean to leave you (or for you to get in trouble). That was just another bad part of me that you were supposed to see. Hey that rhymed.
Well anyway, since Im in this place and not expected to get out anytime soon, I just wanted you to know what you meant to me. If it weren't for you, I may never have gotten my hair cut. And I may never have realized that my mom really does care about me. And that I need help. That last one is a 'major' thanks. I finally have some sort of control over my emotions but the doctors feel that it would be for my own good if I stay in here for as long as I can. To me that sound like jail. How about you?
Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that if I never get out of here alive, that you will be the only person (boy) in my life that I have ever truly 'loved'. If that means anything to you. Even if I may not know the true meaning of the word. I know that in my heart your the one who I felt I could trust and I know that I will
"Never Love Again" anyone in the way that I love you. I probably could have had you that night at your house (the second time), but that wouldn't have been right...J/K
If I do get out of here, I will come back to see you (and the fam) and we'll have that 'dance under the stars' that you talked about. Don't ever forget me and do write often. Even if you have nothing to say...
Love you with everything I have...
Sarah Marie Johnson
