The June lunch was held at Buffet City, Ellisville.
This was the first time our group met at this restaurant. It is a buffet featuring Chinese quizine, with Sushie, and a good selection of traditional American foods. The food selection and quality was excellent, the meeting room was pleasant, and the service excellent.
50 "old" teammates enjoyed the fellowship, food, and of course the door prizes.
Norm Beckel was unable to attend because of prior commitment to be at Scout Camp, but Norm, you sure did a good job picking this place!
We were happy to see the return of Russ Ramberger, after his lung surgery and some subsequent complications. But he says he is doing great now and is recovering very well.
Also, returning was George Johann who has received some medical procedures for Parkinson disease which were very successful. Welcome back George.
Joe and Marilynn Bell will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this week. Congratulations Joe & Marilynn! Now work on the next 50!
Although Norm couldn't be at this meeting, he did open up his vault and provided
his usual bag of high class "goodies" for door prizes.
The "big winners" were:
Bob Hoff, Harold Wilken, Don Kummer, John Wolter, Howard Moeller, Mick Gleason, Simos Ioannou winning golf balls (some of the golf ball sleeves were compliments of John George of Edward Jones Co.)
Bill Engle and Walt Kaminski won coffee mugs
Russ Ramberger and Bob Schwartz won Hellfire Patches and SLAM ER Tie Clasp
Jim Fleming won a SLAM ER Mouse Pad
Ralph Spillman won a HARPOON tie
Two big winners for $20 gift certificates for dining at WEBERS FRONT ROW PUB & GRILL, Webster Groves were arranged by Dave Szukalski. Certificate winners were: Wayne Nathanson and Joe Martinez.
Dave Szukalski announced and displayed a flyer for the FALL 2004 GOLF TOURNAMENT Thursday 23 September at Country Lakes Golf Club, Warrenton. Put this on your calendar and sign up as soon as possible. Details >>> 2004 Fall Golf Tournament
A number of our teammates are suffering with health problems. We urge everyone to look in on these folks. Phone calls, cards and visits are always welcome.
Lloyd Carpenter suffered a mild stroke and heart attack about April of this year. He is now at home and receiving physical therapy. He has some difficulty with left field of vision, and some speech impairment, but communicates fairly well. Give him a call, or send a note or card of encouragement.
Rick McGee is recovering at home from a stroke and is also undergoing therapy treatment.
Ed Stanwich is confined in the Veterans Home in St. James, MO. If you are down that way look in on Ed.
Joe and Ruth Trammelare both suffering form various ailments.
Clarence Howard who is retired, living in Texas has had surgery twice recently. The first time in the fall of last year for tumors in kidney, and the second time (May 27) for tumors in the carotid gland (neck area). He is doing well, and will be undergoing chemo therapy in the near future.
Give all these people a call, send a note or card of encouragement, and keep them in your thoughts and prayers for recovery
There will be no lunch meetings in July and August.
Next lunch meeting will be Wed. Sept. 8, 2004. Time & place to be announced later
