47 friends and teammates of "Mac's Old Team" met for lunch at Grappa Grill, St. Charles. The food was good, service was good and efficient, and the fellowship even better. Carl McCarthy and Arnie Kaufman made their first lunch appearance. It was good to see you again, and we hope you return often.
Please remember that we have quite a few old teammates who are suffering various physical ailments. Be sure to look in on those who are under the weather.
Carl Grabert is recovering from surgery (early March) to remove a large tumor in the cranial area. He spent almost 2 months in the hospital and rehab center, but is now at home recovering and says that he has learned to walk, graduating from a walker to using a cane which he expects to be able to do away with soon.
Joe Dean has had some recent problems, suffering a stroke with some paralysis on the left side, and loss of speech. He is currently at the Delmar Gardens North rehab center. Please keep Carl & Marcia Grabert and Joe & Nell Dean in your thoughts and prayers.
Norm Beckel was not able to be with us, but did unlock his safe and release a plethora of his valuable door prizes, including several MDC related items: Harpoon tie bars, Gemini tie tacks/lapel pins, pen & pencil sets, ball caps, Harpoon patch and key chain, Coffee cup "LaserCom" logo, and ----Oh yes---would you believe some golf balls!
The big winners this month were: Glenn Bowers, Ron Braunesreither, Glenn Cordes, Bob Heide, George Dowdy, Bill Engel, Dick Hepper, John Leistner, Bill Osterloth, Dave Ott, Simos Ioannou, Dan Venverloh, Max Wawrzyniak. Congratulations to the winners.
A reminder: The Annual Spring Golf Tournament is next week, THURSDAY 18 MAY. This year it is at BEAR CREEK GOLF CLUB and the SHOTGUN TEE OFF IS 8:00AM. You can find information and directions on the home page or contact Dave Szukalski at 636-227-5581.
The June lunch will be on Wednesday 14 June. Location and details will be announced later. Check the website for details.
