The weather outside was frightful but inside it was delightful as Mac's Old Team met for lunch at the annual Sweetheart's Lunch on 8 Feb. at the Village China Wok.
We managed to pick one of the few wintery days for the lunch but that's what happens when you are living right.
Shirley, the manager, always goes out of her way to make sure we have a pleasant lunch and we appreciate her efforts. There was an abundance of door prizes, and actually very nice prizes. Marlene Beckel donated some pin cushion dolls. Earl Robb donated jewelry boxes. Our guest, Larry Merritt, BAC Historian, brought 2006 BAC/IDS calendars for everyone as well as some very nice items for door prizes.
Larry Merritt gave us a very interesting and enjoyable overview about "what's goin on at Boeing".
We really appreciate Larry coming to the lunch and bringing all the wonderful prizes. If you were not at the lunch but would like a calendar you can call Larry and he will mail one to you.
Mac Old Team member, Larry Perlmutter, is President of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA), St. Louis Society. He briefed us on the activities of the AIA and the Lectures they are providing. The most recent lecture open to the public at the St. Louis Art Museum on February 10, featured Professor Jodi Magness, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. "The Archaeology of Qumran and the Dead Sea Scrolls". Some of us did attend the this lecture and found it to be very interesting. Thanks to Larry for informing us!
There are several lectures scheduled by the AIA during 2006. All the lectures are free and open to the public, include color slide presentation, and are followed by a reception to meet the speaker. If you are interested, contact Larry Perlmutter for more information.
A number of the husband and wife teams were double winners. Jackie and Tom Fletcher, Phil and Kay Kempland,Carol and Dean Purdy and Margaret and Dave Shean took the honors. Nineteen others went home happy with a prize.
Our next lunch will be on Wednesday 8 March at the Doubletree Hotel, Chesterfield. This lunch will be hosted by Mr. Ken Petterson of Ridgeway & Conger. More information will be forthcoming but be sure to set the date aside. We hope to see you there.
