The Norsemen had high expectations coming into 2005. On the heels of a year in which they caught everyone by surprise with their success, the team found itself ranked in the pre-season national polls. The team struggled early in the season but caught fire in the second half, finishing 26-30 overall. While no one was satisfied, the record was again an improvement over the prior year; and the fact that all involved were a bit disappointed shows how much expectations have changed in recent years. Four players were named All-Region, including one who was named Region XVI Player of the Year and a third-team All-American.
