Coming on the heels of a 15-32 campaign, no one in the St. Louis baseball community expected much of the 2004 Norsemen. But a marvelous recruiting class and a handful of gritty sophomores put the area on notice: they were for real! Midway through the season, the Norsemen broke into the national polls for consecutive weeks; they were even seeded higher than a top 5 team for the postseason tournament. Despite not achieving the overall goal of a region championship, 2004 was truly a watershed one for the program. The team finished 23-28. Two players were named All-Region and three were named All-Conference.
