Chapter 24
Kaitlyn stared at the ground.
“So he had a girl there?”
Kaitlyn looked up at Kaylee and nodded slowly.
“I knew he was too good to be true.”
Kaitlyn rolled her eyes sighing as she got up throwing the phone onto the couch next to Kaylee and then she made her way into her room.
“What?” Kaylee asked for almost the fifth time since Kaitlyn hung up the phone.
Ok, so he isn’t my boyfriend. It shouldn’t matter, right? Then why does it? Why am I so… hurt? Oh, because I actually considered just dropping everything and giving him a chance? That could be it.
Like Kaylee said he was too good to be true. Oh I need to shut up. I can’t let him know this bothered me. Damn fuck. He better get here in the next thirty minutes or I will de-man him. That’s no lie. I may seem sweet and innocent but I have myself a temper I usually keep very well controlled. I get it from my father; in high school he almost killed a guy. He just kept punching him in the head and then the guy fell to the ground hitting his head on the concrete. My dad’s friends pulled him off of the other guy before he could really hurt him. All because I think the guy messed with my dad’s girlfriend or friend or something and I have some of that in me. But I know how to control mine.
“Well hello Nick, nice night?” Kaylee asked as she opened the door to let Nick in.
Nick glared at Kaylee as he walked in.
“Hangover?” She asked sweetly.
“No, where’s Kaitlyn?”
Kaylee pointed back to Kaitlyn’s room and made her way back over to the couch.
Nick slowly walked back to Kaitlyn’s room and knocked lightly on the door.
“What?”
“It’s me,” Nick said rubbing his forehead.
She flung the door open and walked back over to her closet looking through her clothes.
“Kaitlyn.”
“Don’t.”
“I’m sorry.”
“What for?”
Nick sighed as he ran his hand through his hair and watching her busy herself.
She stopped and looked at him, “What?”
“I’m sorry.”
“You said that, I asked what for.”
“You know.”
“Nope don’t know.”
“Why are you being like this?”
“Like what?”
Nick waved his arms in her direction and said, “This.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Nick sighed again frustrated, “You know I don’t know why I’m apologizing it’s not like we were together or anything.”
“Exactly.”
“Then why are you all bent out of shape.”
Kaitlyn stopped what she was doing and glared at him, “I’m not bent out of shape over that, and I’m ‘bent out of shape’ because you are so damn late. Who sleeps this late anyway? Was there really that much sex going on?”
Nick looked at her for a minute and said, “You’re jealous.”
“Ha, bullshit. I’m not jealous of some random no name groupie you picked up at some bar.”
“Well I’m not going to wait around for you forever!” He yelled at her.
Kaitlyn’s mouth opened slightly shocked because he raised his voice which was completely uncalled for and for what he said, “Fuck you, maybe if you kept your dick in your pants for one night you would have known that I was about to give you a fucking chance. But no poor spoiled pop star doesn’t get something he wants for what the first time in your life? So you gotta go stick it wherever just to prove what? That you are a man whore? That your fans are sluts? That you can get whatever the hell you want whenever because you’re pretty? What?” She yelled back at him.
Nick glared at her as she headed for her door, so many things he wanted to say and he just couldn’t get it all out. She turned around and looked at him waiting for a reply as she leaned against the door crossing her arms. He walked up closer to her, and quickly put both of his hands on her cheeks and kissed her hard and intensely.
She pushed him off. “What the fuck are you doing?” She yelled a little angrier now.
“What?”
“What? What the hell is wrong with you? What is your major malfunction?” She yelled waving her arms dramatically in the air.
Nick just shook his head and said, “I figured that’d shut you up.”
Kaitlyn’s eyes got really big and she just went off, “What? This isn’t a fucking romance novel. You can’t just come in here like that and then do that and except everything to peachy fucking keen. Ugh…”
“I still don’t understand why you’re so mad. The only thing I can think of is that you’re jealous,” He replied smirking at her.
Kaitlyn rolled her eyes and said, “No, you really can’t read when someone despises you at the moment huh? I can’t believe you just fucking did that are you insane? Why would I want to kiss you after you just did god knows what with god knows who? Who knows where your lips have been and what about hers? That’s fucking disgusting. Ugh. You… you disgust me right now.” She yelled at him as she swung her door open violently almost hitting Nick.
“Thank you for reminding me why I don’t want a girlfriend,” Nick yelled back at her as she stopped in the hallway.
She turned around, “No thank you for reminding me why I don’t need a fucking man in my life. Because of all this drama,” She waved her arms around and said, “All this; this is why I can’t fucking take it guys who can’t keep it in their pants, guys who feel like they are superior to a girl so they can hit her or tell her what to do or just treat a girl like shit, or guys that just plain out ignore a girl. I don’t need it! So thank you for reminding me of all the things that made me hate men in the first place before I made a huge fucking mistake of actually giving you a chance.” She concluded and then turned around and walked into the kitchen.
Nick stood there and watched her walk into the kitchen and then sat down on her bed running his hand through his hair and sighing.
“Is it safe to come out now?” Kaylee asked as she stuck her head out of her room looking up and down the hallway.
“Yeah, it’s safe,” Kaitlyn replied from the living room.
Kaylee walked out into the living room and sat down next to Kaitlyn. “Dare I ask where Nick is?”
Kaitlyn shrugged, “Probably hiding.”
“I would be too. You are not pretty when you are angry.”
Kaitlyn smiled a little and shook her head.
“Seriously, why do you think I retreated to my room?” Kaylee asked cocking an eyebrow.
Kaitlyn shrugged and opened her mouth about to say something when the phone rang.
“I’ll get it.”
Kaitlyn shook her head as she watched Kaylee dive for the phone. Then she looked back towards her room and then got up walking towards her room. She stopped in the doorway to see Nick laying face up staring at the ceiling with his mouth wide open. She put her hand on hip looking at him oddly. She couldn’t figure out if he was sleeping or just spacing. She cleared her throat but he didn’t move. She moved in the room a little more and was contemplating her next move when Kaylee yelled from the living room that Kaitlyn’s mom was twenty minutes away.
“I heard her,” Nick said.
“That’s good to know.”
“How long were you going to watch me before you said something?” He asked moving his head to look at her.
She looked down and then back up at him and around the room and shrugged.
Nick smiled a little at her but she just crossed her arms and stared at him.
“Ready to put those acting skills to the test?” She asked still staring at him rather coldly.
Nick shrugged.
“Well you better.”
Nick rolled his eyes as he sat up slowly and looked around.
“What were you doing?”
“Nothing that involved you and I wasn’t hiding.”
Kaitlyn looked down smiling a little. “So here are the rules.”
“What? Rules? No one said anything about rules. I don’t do rules.”
Kaitlyn rolled her eyes and said, “I don’t care.”
“I do.”
“That doesn’t matter.”
Nick rolled his eyes and sighed.
“No groping.”
Nick started laughing.
“What?”
“Nothing, nothing at all. Please continue.”
Kaitlyn sighed and said, “No groping or unnecessary fondling.”
“Aren’t those the same things?”
“Zip it.”
Nick pressed his lips together and looked the other way smiling.
“Anyway, no unnecessary kissing in places other than the cheeks.”
“Um,” Kaitlyn glared at Nick, “Never mind.”
“What else?”
“I don’t know is there anything else?”
Kaitlyn sighed heavily and just stomped out of the room leaving Nick grinning widely.
“So?”
Kaitlyn looked over at Kaylee annoyed. “What?”
“Obviously boyfriend isn’t making you happy.”
“He’s so annoying.”
“Hey you could have avoided this completely if you just told your mom the truth.”
“Or if you would have kept your mouth shut.”
“Oh, I knew I came in here for a reason. There’s a story behind this. Continue ladies,” Nick said as she sat next to Kaitlyn on the couch putting his arm around her smiling.
Kaylee licked her lips and looked back over at the TV trying hard not to laugh.
“Nick,” Kaitlyn said through clenched teeth.
“Yeah pumpkin?”
Kaylee put a pillow up to her face so she could muffle her laughs.
“No pet names. And she isn’t here yet move your arm,” Kaitlyn said as she slapped Nick’s hand that was moving a little to closer to her breast.
“I like pumpkin though,” Nick replied pouting.
“Tough-,” Kaitlyn started to say when there was a knock on the door.
“Oh look pumpkin your mom is here,” Nick said smiling as he pulled her off the couch and then grabbed her hand as they walked over to the door.
