A Dream Come True
“It’s just an introduction,” Nick replied looking up at her.
“I know it sucks. God it does doesn’t it?” Jana replied as she started to fidget and then pace.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Nick asked his voice full of concern as he turned around in his chair watching her pace.
She looked over at him and then he grinned at her. She stopped and sighed as she stood in front of him her hands on her hips. She took a deep breath and said, “Uh… just a little nervous I guess.”
“About?”
Jana looked at Nick like he was crazy. “Um… I wonder? Maybe because in about what 3 months or so my first book will be published.”
Nick laughed lightly and motioned for her to come over to him.
“What?” She asked as she stood in between his legs.
Nick put his hands on her hips and then moved one of his hands over to her swollen belly. “It’s going to be fine,” Nick said as he looked up at her.
Jana moved her hand onto of his and then ran her other hand through his hair. “Liar,” She replied softly as he stood up.
“I’m serious. I think it’s all great. Keep the introduction the way it is. Everything is perfect.”
“Not really,” Jana said as she smiled.
“What?”
“I’m pregnant, that’s not perfect. I don’t like being pregnant.”
Nick looked at her and then started to laugh.
“What?” Jana asked pushing him away from her slightly and then putting her hands on her hips.
“Never mind.”
“Seriously we need to talk about an operation for you.”
“For me?” Nick asked confused.
“Yeah, we need to kill your little spermies.”
Nick grinned and asked, “Why is that?”
“Because I’m done popping out kids… no more.”
Nick looked down at her lovingly and then smiled.
“What? Why are smiling at me like that?”
Nick shook his head and then leaned down and kissed her gently.
“Mommy?”
They separated and turned around to see Alyssa standing there with her hand on her stomach.
Jana walked over to the six year old and bent down to her level. “What’s wrong baby?”
“My tummy hurts,” Alyssa replied pouting.
“Ok, baby let’s get you in your room and you can lie down. I’ll downstairs and get you some medicine alright?”
Alyssa nodded as she grabbed Jana’s hand. Jana looked back at Nick and smiled as they walked out of the room.
Chapter 1
Two and half years ago my world was turned upside down and then back again. So many things happened in the span of just a few months. Things happened that I would have never imagined could and things I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy. I’ve learned from all of this, I’ve grown and so has my family. Sometimes at night I wonder how I survived. I never considered myself a strong willed person and when my world was falling apart around me I didn’t think I could make it. But I did, my son was returned to me unharmed. My marriage thankfully was saved. And now everything is exactly the way it should be. And this is my story.
Jana stood behind Nick biting her nails, “What do you think? Sucks don’t it?”
“Well Jana everything is looking just fine.”
Jana sat up and took her legs out of the stirrups.
“You’re pregnancy is coming along nicely.”
“Thanks Dr. Watson,” Jana said as she started to swing her legs back and forth.
“You should be pretty used to this by now,” Dr. Watson said as he chuckled.
“Yeah, and you can see my husband is too that’s why he feels he shouldn’t have to come,” Jana replied rolling her eyes.
Dr. Watson nodded and said, “Well I’ll see you in a month.”
Jana nodded and sighed, “Yeah only 6 more months.”
Dr. Watson laughed as he walked out of the room.
“What are you doing?”
Nick looked up at Jana blankly, “What?”
“What are you doing?” Jana asked putting her hands on her hips.
“By the tone in your voice I’m thinking something you don’t want me to do.”
“Bingo.”
“I just wanted to read some of it.”
“But why? I don’t want you to.” Jana replied grabbing the final draft her book out of his grasp.
“Why not?”
“Hm… because it’s about us.”
“More the reason why I should read it,” Nick replied grinning.
“Nope,” Jana replied shaking her head.
“Fine when it’s published I’ll buy a copy.”
Jana glared at Nick as she crossed her arms.
“What? I don’t understand why you don’t want me to read it.”
“Not just you. I don’t want Nikki or the guys or your family to read it either.”
“I don’t get it. You wanted to be a published author.”
“And that’s coming true.”
“And people are going to read it.”
“I know I just don’t want people who really know me to read it.”
“Why do you sound like a nice person in the book?” Nick asked smirking at her.
“Ha…” Jana replied angrily as she stomped out of the room.
Nick shook his head as he watched her walk out. He stood up and was about to follow when Trenton ran into the room.
“Hey buddy.”
“Dad, I have a problem,” Trenton said in a serious tone.
“Alright,” Nick said as he sat back down.
“It’s about a girl.”
Nick nodded and leaned back waiting to hear the rest of what his son had to say.
“Well you know I’m in 3rd grade now.”
“You are?”
“Dad.”
Nick put his hands up defensively, “Sorry, continue.”
“I like this girl named Kelly. She’s really cool and she is kind of my girlfriend.”
“Oh yeah?” Nick asked cocking an eyebrow.
“Don’t tell mom.”
Nick pressed his lips together and nodded.
“But she kissed me.”
“Really?”
“And then she told everyone that I was bad at it.”
“Were you?”
Trenton shrugged and said, “It was kind of… uh… my first kiss.”
Nick tried so hard not to laugh. This was just way too weird for him.
“So what should I do?”
Nick looked around and then back at Trenton. “You should break up with her. If she really liked you that wouldn’t matter to her and she wouldn’t have gone and told everyone.”
“But she’s really popular.”
“And you aren’t?” Nick asked laughing.
“Not really.”
“Interesting.”
“Nobody cares you are my dad.”
“Really?”
“Dad, stay focused.”
Nick sat up and said, “Sorry.”
“Maybe I should go to mom.”
Nick started to laugh and said, “Yeah you go to your mom but make sure I’m there.”
Trenton sighed and shook his head as he walked out of the room. Leaving Nick there laughing still.
