Cheyenne is our little sweetheart. She was 4 years old when I adopted her in the spring of 2001. Poor Cheyenne had had a very rough time of it. She was dumped/stray??? at a shelter in Memphis after having had a litter of puppies. Now, I ask you, what idiot would breed a deaf dog? (Sorry, sometimes I just get a little frustrated with people) Anyway the shelter contacted BoxAR Rescue of Arkansas and they took Cheyenne in. While there, they discovered she had heartworms and treated her.

After her heartworm treatment she went to a nice foster home where she got to live with 2 other Boxers. I spoke to the rescue and arranged to meet Sandra halfway with Cheyenne (4 1/2 hours for each of us)when her recuperation period was over from the heartworm treatment.

Well, I met Sandra who does a wonderful job with all the Boxers that come into her care. There in the back of her SUV was the saddest but cutest looking face you could ever want to meet. We got her out and took care of all the official stuff and sat and chatted for a while.

Then off we went for the 3 1/2 to 4 hour ride home. This is Cheyenne's picture that I took when she was in the back of my car. Doesn't it just tear your heart up? I am sure the poor baby was thinking "Not another move, wonder how long I will stay in this place?" I know she is deaf but all the way home I just kept promising her this was her final stop and she would be with us forever.

Halfway home we stopped at a rest stop and I let her out. She was still so sad looking and forlorn. Cheyenne is shy anyway and she just wasn't sure about anything that was going on.

Well, it was a match made in heaven. Cheyenne gets along with the rest of the gang. We had an uneventful group meeting. In fact, for a few days I kept expecting some grumbling, some sparring - nothing, nada! YEAH! This is Cheyenne after she had been home a couple days in her new backyard.

My little pilgrim and such a good pilgrim she is!

This is the first winter that I have had Cheyenne! She LOVES snow. First she was trying to catch the snowflakes and then she was just running around trying to bury her nose in it. She and Daisy-Dots were having a blast!

OK, I know there is something that smells real good on top of this thing.

Chey loves to dig, sunny or rainy-it doesn't matter. First she digs the hole, then she watches and guards the hole. Then in mud she looks like she is trying to be a liver spotted dalmation! LOL!

This is Chey's happy face. Usually she takes poising for the camera very seriously but this is her "I feel good; I just had a bath!!!"

Chey graduated from obedience classes with hearing dogs in the spring of 2003 and then in September she got her CGC certificate. I am so proud of her.

Cheyenne, Nellie Rose and I went to the St. Jude's Showcase of Dogs in Memphis and had a great time 10/03.

This is Chey resting after all the Christmas (2005) running around. Isn't she beautiful? Course, I am kind of prejudice but I can't help it.

Chey was very glad when I got a new camera. She loves to pose for the camera.
