Charles
King Shannon was wounded at the Battle of Lone Jack, Mo. (August 15-16,
1862). At the close of the war Charles did not surrender, his unit was
disbanded in late 1864 near West Port, Missouri and he returned to civilian
life.
During
the course of the war Charles befriended Thomas Coleman (Cole) Younger.
It is passed down through family history, that Cole and Charles shared
a blanket on several occasions.
