Scott's musical journey began February 11, 1964 when he saw the Beatles perform on the Ed Sullivan show for the first time. It was a moment that he will never forget. From that moment on, he knew that rock-n-roll was what he wanted to do. Shortly after that fateful day, Scott's older brother came home with a Sears Silvertone guitar. Scott would listen from the hallway as his brother practiced for hours. Then, when his brother left for work, Scott would sneak into his room and pretend to play. In the fall of 1967, when Scott's brother was sent to Vietnam, he inherited the guitar and finally had the opportunity to begin to play for real. The first song he learned was "Secret Agent Man." It was the beginning of a long musical career for Scott. Scott recalls, "My first paying gig happened in 1973. I remember I was 14 years old and had been playing with Bobby Stewart who was 17. He taught me so much, not only on the guitar, but how to be a musician and still be a decent person. That means a lot to me, you can be the most talented musician in the world, but if you are a jerk, all you are is a jerk." In 1980 Scott met Paul Cordray and put together a band called Frenzy. "That band meant a lot to me because my little brother Jimmy was our lead guitarist. We traveled the 4 state area, playing every club there was. Basically the 80's were a big blur. People tell me that I had a good time." Frenzy toured the area for most of the 80's. In the early 90's Scott saw Rusty Crewse play at the Spirit Fest. "I remember thinking what a great guitarist he was, and what a great showman too." In 1997 when Scott and Paul had been through 3 guitarists and were searching for a new one, a mutual friend brought up Rusty's name. The three got together one Sunday afternoon with the intention of just jamming. "What happened that afternoon was magic." Scott recalls. "I still listen to the tape of that afternoon and amazed at how tight we sounded." Scott and Paul asked Rusty to join the band after just that one rehearsal together and have been playing as the Blast ever since. " I am a believer in the paranormal. The three of us have the ability to read each other's minds, especially on stage. It's really hard to explain. Come and see us play, then you'll understand." Scott's philosophy—"I play each show like it's my last. I give 100% plus. You never know, It could be the final performance."
