Welcome to the WWC Home Page

This page was designed by an anonymous group of young women in St. Louis, Missouri who are:

  • high school students
  • living in a group home
  • in custody of the Division of Family Services (DFS)

We created this page in order to help other kids in similar situations because we know that it can be very hard to be out here by yourself. We want other kids to know that they are not alone, that they should believe in themselves, and that there are ways to beat the system.

This page is written for:

  • teenagers, especially teenagers in custody
  • parents, teachers, and other adults
  • anyone else who is interested in talking or listening

Meet the WWC members and see what we have to say:

Sike-O
Age 17

What's up? My name is Sike-O. I am a seventeen year old female who hates the child care system because it is very unfair. On the other hand I like to sing and read books and stuff like that. I am the type of person who is mean and shuts people out because I feel that they don't relate to what I'm going through but you'd be surprised about how many people are in custody and they need someone to talk to and I want to be that person.

Go to Sike-O's page and read her story.

Baby T
Age 17

When I became 15 years of age I got pregnant. As I went on through my pregnancy it got hard. I had a lot of problems, like morning sickness, pre-term labor. After I had my son it was even harder. I got caught up in staying up late with a crying baby. When the baby got sick I had to take him to the doctor. You don't get to do the stuff you used to. Life with a baby is not fun. You are a mother now and it's time to take responsibility. The good part about having a baby is I will always love him, I love his smiling face, and you know what? I don't regret having him and never will. He is my heart and 4-ever.

Now I am 17 years old and still in school. My baby is 7 months old and he is the most specialist thing to me. I am in the 11th grade. My favorite subjects are reading, math, and history. My favorite part of the day is going home. Since I don't see my baby very often I go home on the weekend to my mother's house to see him. I have been in the state's custody since 1998. Next year is my final year, I will be out and free. To me the system is all messed up and also backwards. I think someone needs to give them some tips.

I'm writing this to let teen mothers know the good qualities about having a baby. One of them is it is something you will be able to love for the rest of your life. you get to see them to be someone perfect in the future.
You can e-mail me personally at Baby_Tie@yahoo.com.

Shorty
Age 16

The thing I like to do is dancing. I always dance wherever I go. When I grow up I would like to be a dancer on videos. If there are any male dancers out there you can e-mail me. It doesn't matter what kind of dancing you do.

Click on the mailbox to e-mail Shorty. Good topics: Life in a home, dance tips.

Mickey Mouse
Age 17

My net name is Mickey Mouse. I'm 17, and I'm a Taurus. I love to skate and draw. I wanted to be on the web to talk to other teens that are basically going through the same things that I am. I've had a hard life so far, but through it all I've learned a lot. I've grown very strong through it all.

Well, me and a couple of friends started this website for kids like us, well I shouldn't say just kids because it's for parents too. We haven't gotten too many e-mails so I'm just going to tell you some more about me. I'm in 17, I'm in DFS, (Division of Children and Family Services) not by choice. I think that I am very strong. I really don't know how to start my story, so I won't. What I will do is, you can e-mail me and I will answer any questions you have. Much love, Mickey Mouse.

Go to Mickey Mouse's page to read her answers about split ends and breaking nails. Also read her correspondence with a boy about what to do for his one year anniversary with his girlfriend, and why some girls think they are fat when they're not.

Click on the mailbox to e-mail Mickey Mouse.

T. Bear
Age 17

My name is T. Bear. I am 17 years old as of March 24. I like to talk on the phone, play volleyball, and go places with my family. I have 1 sister and she has 3 kids. I also have 1 brother and he is a pain in the butt. I like to go to Six Flags, walk around the mall, go to the park and skate. I like to go to the movies, go riding around and party all night long.

Click on the mailbox to e-mail T. Bear. Good topics: How do you feel when you can't do what you want to do, even when you ask nicely?

Lil' Black
Age 17

I wanted to become involved with the website because I thought it would be something positive to do in my spare time. I also wanted to get involved because I wanted to put myself on the map for St. Louis. I think this would be positive for young teens of all ages to get involved in because it would help you better understand about teens in foster care.
Go to Lil' Black's page to see a picture and read about her life and experiences.

Destiny
Age 15

First I would like to start off with my name and that is Destiny and would let you know a little bit about myself. I am 15 and I like to hang out at the mall and movies and mostly do things that teenagers do. I am doing this website to let teenagers know that it's hard to be out here because I been there and done it and you wouldn't like it. You should try to be somebody, go somewhere, and make a difference in someone else's life. I have more to say but if you e-mail or contact our website then I will be glad to talk to you about anything.

Go to Destiny's page to read her answers a mom's questions about rules for her teenage daughter and how to talk about dating.

Click on the mailbox to e-mail Destiny. Good topics: Relationships with boyfriends, girlfriends and parents, etc. How stressed are you? How hard is it to live on your own?

Tweety the "G"
Age 16

Hello, my net name is Tweety the "G". I would like to start off by saying you are a blessed person. I have learned the hard way about DFS. I put myself and my younger siblings in custody for family reasons. But don't think all children in DFS have problems or are abused. I am a member of the National Honors Society and am currently a Missouri Mint Board youth member. Remember if you have a problem, don't be ashamed to talk to one of us. We as a group have bumped into lots of problems, don't be surprised, one of us may have already gone down that road. Remember, God loves you no matter what!

Go to Tweety the "G"'s page to read about what she has learned from her life.

Pooh
Age 15

Hello my name is Pooh and I am 15 years old. I go to U-City High School. I live in a girls' home and I am under DFS custody and it is no fun. Being in a home is taking away my freedom. I like Winnie the Pooh and I love the singer Sisqo from the group Dru Hill. I like listening to music, going out to the mall and skating. I just wanted to let you all know that it is no fun being under DFS custody. If you want to know more about me e-mail me please. Thank you.

QT-Pie

Hey wazzup!! My name is QT-Pie, my real name is "Kristyle" like the drink, I live in a girls' home, and I am under DFS custody (no joke). I love to have fun and enjoy myself, I am very down-to-earth and open. I'm in a horrible situation because of physical abuse by my Mom but I'm over it. I found out that it doesn't make me anything but strong. If you have anything to talk to me about I'm down for it. I'm here for you and I am very open and honest, you got something to tell me, lay it on me.

Go to QT-Pie's page to read more of what she has to say. Click on the mailbox to e-mail QT-Pie.

We know that kids are not always comfortable talking to adults, but they can talk to us. They can ask us any questions and we will be glad to answer them.
