DESCRIPTION
A medium height lanky man about 5’10, 170 lbs. He has a weathered face and has on round, wire rimmed, mirrored shades. He is wearing cowboy boots, jeans that have been altered to be extra baggy in the hip and butt region, and a red flannel shirt and a black leather head band encircles his head covering the top of his ears. He also wears a long black western style leather duster that is carved with intricate Norse runes. On a leather thong around his neck it a rune tile of polished bone. The rune showing on it is Teiwaz. He also wears a silver Thor’s hammer with raven’s head pendant. He has long red hair that is tied back in a braid that runs down his back, and he has a beard. His entire manner exudes confidence. His eyes seem to watch everyone. His nose has a nasty scar across it. If one looks close enough they can see that his left hand appears to be rather odd shaped more like that of a primate and is covered by a glove. Also his mouth almost seems as if it is full. He is very calm. In fact so calm that it is creepy. When he speaks he has a strange accent a mix of southern and western dialect. His voice is quiet and only adds to the generally disturbing nature that he exudes. His entire manner seems to exude an alien out look and utter lack of anything that might be considered human.
HISTORY
The man that would become the Gangrel known as Hawk was born with the name Jonathan Lee Moore. He was born in 1840 to a poor white southern family. His family made their living as cotton farmers and they did not own slaves. Like many young men in the south that were his age he joined the Confederate army when the Civil War broke out in 1861. To him it was more of an issue of state’s rights than anything else was. He really did not approve of slavery, but did not think that the Federal government should try to force its opinion on the locals. Like many when asked by a Yankee why he was fighting he would reply because you all are down here. He got his nickname Hawk because of his striking blue eyes.
He served in the Confederate Cavalry under General JEB Stuart. Like many others with his background when the war was over in 1865 he went west. He earned his living as a cowboy and a gunfighter. He was not a serious hired killer but more of a guard. He moved around a lot from ranch to ranch and town to town earning his living as he could along the way.
His life changed in 1870. That night he was ridding watch on the ranch that he was working on. It was near Dodge City. Something knocked him from his horse and he awoke with a burning hunger for blood. The local sheriff captured him and brought him before the Prince. The Prince had the Tremere try to determine who his Sire was. They were not able to determine who his Sire was, but they were able to determine that he was Gangrel. The Gangrel Primogen took Hawk under his wing and instructed him in the ways of the Clan.
Of course as with anything that deals with the Kindred there was more to it than that. Unnr Snowtop, priestess of Ponar, Gangrel Methuselah, and True Hand member had watched her future Child for a long time. She had made the arrangements for his Embrace with the Prince and set it up so that he would be taught yet still have to deal with the customary Gangrel period of not knowing his Sire. Unfortunately she got Torpored by a pack of Lupines shortly after Embracing Hawk. So it took 130 years for them to at last meet.
After awakening she got her bearings on the current age and tracked down her missing child. But one of her ancient rivals had followed her as well. A great battle soon followed that involved a number of the Gangrel. In the end Unnr was set free and departed after telling Hawk a bit about where he came from.
Anyway, to continue with the tale. Hawk learned of the Independent Gangrel State in Necropolis and came to investigate. After settling in he was appointed Deputy Constable and served the Clan and Jarl in that capacity. This and other events lead to deterioration. He became much more cold and distant and rather creepy.
A combination of his deterioration and what turned out to be the natural calling of his blood lead him to study under the Clan Loremaster Bjorn Teiwaz. Under Bjorn’s instruction he took up the Via Einherjar the path of the old Viking Gangrel. He also learned many of the nearly lost skills of the Aftergangers.
During this period Hawk also developed a relationship with his mate the Malkavian Autumn Raine. The two make an odd pairing. He is dark and brooding and she is friendly and social. But the two seem to understand one another in ways that those around them cannot comprehend. A good example of this is the extremely close relationship that Hawk has with Rori Windwalker the Constable.
One of those who does not understand is Hawk’s Child. Kaylie McGreggor. Kaylie was interviewing as a zoo technician when Hawk spotted her. After speaking with her and deciding she would make a great Gangrel he Embraced her with the Jarl’s blessing after she served a period as his ghoul. Of course the change caused her to have various growing pains. Not the least of which was a considerable bit of jealousy over Rori’s relationship to Hawk.
As time passed the harsh methods that Hawk uses in carrying out his duty were called into question. Most notably by the Elder Reeve Jared Draagon and to a lesser extent by Rori. Reeve Draagon did this in a very public manner and to avoid a bloody challenge with the older Gangrel Hawk left town for a while. However, Rori’s criticism hurt the worst because Hawk actually gave a dam what she thought.
He soon returned to town cut up from a nasty battle with Lupines near Cuba Missouri. After limping around for a bit he healed up and set his affairs in order. Upon next meeting the Jarl she appointed him Scourge. A position that fits his nasty disposition to a tee.
