Usually when people think of religious persecution, they think about the concentration capms of the 1940's or before. The thought never occurs to them that that could still be going on today.

The facts are simple, more Chritians have died this century than in the prevoius 19 centuries combined, and that isn't even including the Jewish people that perished in the aforementioned concentration camps. Four hundred people will perish today as a result of their religious beliefs. What has the great United States government done about this? Nothing at all. More Christians are imprisoned in China than in any other country in the world, yet we still court China around like they the are a prince with the King being on his deathbed. Despite all of this, we still favor, as we have for years, their inclusion in the World Trade Organization, and don't forget that this is the same China that had been stealing our nuclear secrets for the past 15 years.

You might say that we are afraid of China, but we also refuse to take a stand against countries like Pakistan, Sudan, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt that are doing the exact same thing. Yet we site "persecution" in Kosovo as one of our excuses for the bombing months ago. I won't get into that, that's another speech in itself. I think that the time has come for this madness to end. Is it too much to ask for the world's most powerful nation to help stop the religious persecution and meaningless murder of the people that share the same basic beliefs of 75% of the people in the United States? I don't think it is.
