Metamorphoses
My thoughts: What can I say but this was the absolute best show of the season...of the past few seasons! If you missed it, I'm sorry--you missed theatre at its best.
The show had so much character and richness. Each story unfolding with great detail and intrigue. You may or may not be familiar with the myths being told, but they all have an element of truth to identify with. And the water was its own character. It was a literal ocean, pool, love, hunger, therapy couch, chasm of the underworld, whatever it needed to be.
Honestly, I thought the weekest scene of the show was one of the most controversial beforehand...the scene with the nude cupid. I thought the scene lacked the emotional charge of the rest of the show and pressing story, it just kind of went along. It was funny that for the school matinee, cupid wore a small black spedo.
Some of the best scenes were the woman who lost her husband to the sea, the sun of Apollo, and the girl who loved her father.
