These are my free crochet patterns, ones that I've made up; & enjoyed through the years. I enjoy creating my own patterns, it makes what I'm crocheting; all the more special. Enjoy, but please keep in mind that these are for your personal use only. Do not post to any listgroup, or website without my express persmission. Thanks
I have crocheted this afghan in shades of the Autumn leaves(earthtones), and it turns out beautiful. You could also do it in baby pastels, or in ocean colors(various blues & white). It's an easy pattern to follow and turns out very nice. Makes a great housewarming or baby gift. Make 2, & keep one for yourself!
J-Hook
2-3 colors 4 ply Acrylic yarn(color A-Main color, and then 2 or 3 other colors)
(Consider changing colors for every Row 3 of the afghan. You can find 2 or 3 corresponding colors, to go along with color A; and use them alternately. Makes a really nice look in primary colors, or baby pastels. Or, if you would like to do less color changes, do the color change in every other row 3; thus making it an every 6th row stripe design.)
Ch 140 for babyghan, 150 lapghan; or 170 for afghan.
1)Hdc in 3rd st from beg, & in each remaining st across. Ch1, turn.
2)Sc in same st, ch1, *sk 1 st, sc in next st, ch1; * across. Ch2, turn.
3) Hdc in sc, *dc in skipped(from pevious row) stitch below, hdc in next st; * across row. Ch 2 turn.
4) Hdc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
5) Repeat row 2.
6) Repeat row 3.
7) Repeat row 4.
Continue repeating rows 2, 3, & 4 until afghan is of appropriate size. Fasten Off, Tuck in ends.
Edging: Sc around enitre afghan, making 3 sc's in each corner space. Change colors. Then, take another color and do 1 round of hdc,s; making 3 hdc-ch1-3hdc in each corner space. Change colors. (*Sc-ch2-sc in next st. Sc in next st-ch-2sc in next st) around entire afghan, making 3sc's in the ch1 sp in each corner. Fasten off.
For a different edging, you might try this: Sc around entire afghan, making 2sc-ch1-2sc in each corner space. 5dc's in each corner ch1 space, and down the side of the afghan do this: sc-hdc-dc-hdc-sc to each corner. It makes a nice roller coaster-like edging. Very pretty.

This pattern can be made to suit: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, XXLG.
Chain 140 for small, ch150 for Medium, ch160 for Large, ch170 for XLarge; & ch180 for XXLarge. (Add chains if needed for your size.)
(Note: Do not turn. These rows are worked individually, and from left to right; decreasing 1 st on either side of the shawl; in every row.)
Tuck in ends as you crochet each row. This will save alot of time, later on.
1) HDC in 3rd ch from beg & in each ch across. Fasten off.
2) Starting in the 2nd hdc from the end, Join next color yarn and ch2; hdc across row.(Make sure that you make your last hdc in the next to the last stitch, to dec row.) Fasten off.
3 thru .....) Repeat row 2 until you get to a row containing just 3 hdc's. Join yarn , ch2; hdc in next 2sts, fasten off.
There are 3 ways to finish off this scrapped shawl: You can make fringe and put that around the two sides leading to the "V" shaped back bottom. Sc across the top of the shawl, fasten off.
Or:
You can sc around entire shawl, doing 3 to 5 sc's in each corner area. Fasten off.
Or:
You can sc around entire shawl, doing 3 to 5 sc's in each corner area, joining in top of 1st sc. Ch1. Then, sc in same st-*ch3-sc in next st * around. Fasten off. This makes a real dainty, pretty finish.
"G" Hook
1oz. 4ply acrylic yarn, any color
(Note- on theis first row, work around the starting chains, first on one side; and then on the other side, making a "round" with the starting chains)
#1: Ch 27, then dc in 5th ch, sk 2 ch; *then dc-ch1-dc in the following ch, sk 2 ch, then * across row, ending with a dc, turn around and start again across the other side of starting ch's, in the same fashion as before. Join w/sl st to top of beg. ch 3.
#2-6: Continue as before, making shell pattern around sachet holder.
#7: At this point, you break off from rounds; and will work in rows. What that means is that you will only go across one side, to the single dc; then you will ch3 and turn your work, working across the new row; ending row with a dc in the space directly after the final shell.
#8-15: Continue on back & forth until you get through with row #15, then fasten off.
#16: Attach a contrasting color with a sl st into first space, sc-ch2-sk1 st-sc in next......across rown; ending with a sc in final stitch. Fasten off and weave in ends.
At this point, insert your paper sachet envelope; and fold over top of holder(envelope style). Take 2 lengths of decorating ribbon(or yarn), in a contrasting color, and make a bow about 2 or 3 sts in from the sides, on each side; thereby securing the front of the holder. It really looks decrative. You're done. :-) Put it in a dresser drawer, a linen clost; or give as a nice "just because" gift.
