"Some people only dream of angels, I held one in my arms"

Our story begins the day Charles Richardson Samuel Fields our third born child came into the world. Sammy as we called him was a precious little boy, with really no cares in the world. Sammy was born with a rare heart condition called Shones Complex. Tho his time here on earth was short he touched alot of people. We decided when Sammy was about 3 months old to start a foundation to help other families who have children with this rare heart affliction. And that is how the Shones Kids Foundation came to be. Even tho Samuels dad and I have since gone our separate ways we still remain close friends for our children and keep Samuel's memory alive in them.

The following poem was on Samuels funeral handout. It speaks volumns about what we must go through as parents of these special little children.

Heaven's Child by Edna Massimilla

A meeting was held quite far from Earth!
It's time again for another birth.
Said the Angels to the LORD above,
This Special Child will need much love.

His progress may be very slow,
Accomplishments he may not show.
And he'll require extra care
From the folks he meets down there.

He may not run or laugh or play,
His thoughts may seem quite far away,
In many ways he won't adapt,
And he'll be known as handicapped.

So let's be careful where he's sent,
We want his life to be content.
Please LORD, find the parents who
Will do a special job for you.

They will not realize right away
The leading role they're asked to play,
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.

And soon they'll know the privilege given
In caring for their gift from Heaven.
Their precious charge, so meek and mild,

1 Samuel 1:20:
Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come
about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son,
and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have
asked him of the LORD.

"And God hath given me "Gods Choosen one, Samuel"
Then God asked of me to give my child unto him
The tears came, the skies opened, and into my
Fathers arms, my child flew home to enternal grace
This is of Sammy during his last hospital
stay from April 5, to May 4, 1999
