Road to a Championship

1992 Season

This page is dedicated to the 1992 football team from Blue Springs, Missouri. Even though this team was very talented, a lot of people did not give themthe credit they deserved. Fighting many odds, this team battled other talentedteams and won the Missouri 5A State Championship. Enough about my opinionsof the team, I am biased since I was on the team. I will let you judgethe team for yourself. I think you will agree with me when I say it was the team's talent combined heart and determination that led to championship. After you have looked over this, please take time and sign my guest book at thebottom of the page.

ESPN Visit

Senior, LeroyPruitt, gained the attention of ESPN's "Scholastic Sports" this season and they visited Blue Springs the week of the Homecoming game versus Park Hill. Pruitt gained there attention with his accoplishments as areceiver and a scholar. By the end of the season Pruitt would be on a recordlist for recptions with another well known receiver, Jerry Rice. Leroy would also have the attentions af the recruiters at Standford University for his scholastic abilities. This was quite an accomplishment for Leroy ad I am sure that it is a memory that no one on the team will soon forget. ESPN was there throughout the week and spoke with Leroy, but they were also at our game and at the Bon fire the night before the game as well. This was just a highlight of what would be a terrific year.

Final Play

Parkway has the ball on the Blue Springs 35 yard line with two seconds left. Byrd drops back to pass. Rovenstine breaks through the line. Byrd scrambles as Roventstine has a hold of his shirt at the Parkway Central 47 yard line. Finally, on the Parkway Central 37 yard line, Rovenstine sacks Byrd. This was Blue Springs first sack of the entire game!

Post Game Celebration and Awards

Hand shakes occur on the 50 yard line and immediately following, Blue Springs forms a hudle on the 50 yard line. The team then proceeds toward the sideline with everyone holding up one finger. Minnis leads the team off of the field as photographers gather around.

After receiving the award, Coach McGinnis is held up by the team. Victory has been achieved and acknowledged!
