QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

How do I order?

  1. Go to the ORDER FORM link.
  2. Print out the order form.
  3. Send completed order form, payment, and any photos (for commissioned art).
Mail to: Renee's Artworks, 85 County Road 420, Linn, MO 65051

How do I order Portraits?

  1. Find a photo of the subject(s) (people or pets) you would like to have in the portrait.
  2. Send the photo(s) along with the order form. Include any notes you would like to add. I will call or e-mail you if I have questions.
  3. Include check or money order for at least 1/2 of the total cost. After your portrait is done, I will send you an e-mail with an attachment of your portrait for your approval. The other 1/2 of the money may be sent after you've approved your portrait.

What size will the portrait be?

Finished size will be approximately 11x14, 12x16, 16x20 or 18x24 inches. Size will vary according to the number of subjects in a portrait, and the amount of background, etc. Portraits are not priced on size, rather on the number of subjects.

What size photo should I send?

The size of the subject's head which you want drawn is much more important than the size of the photo itself. IMPORTANT:When ordering portraits, make sure that the subject's head (from the top of the forehead to the bottom of the chin) measures at least 3/4 of an inch or larger in the photo you send. This helps me to see detail and the personality of the person or pet. The larger and clearer the subject appears in the photo, the better the portrait.

Can I have more than one photo in a single drawing?

Two or more photos can be combined to make one portrait. In other words, say you would like a portrait of your three kids, but don't have a good one of them together. Find a picture you like of each kid, send me the seperate photos and I will combine them. Sometimes this works better in a collage form, or sometimes it looks like they're actually sitting together, depending on the position of the kids in the photos.

Will I get my photo back?

Yes. Photos will be returned, along with your one of a kind pencil portrait.

How many photos should I send?

I like to have a few photos of each subject I am going to draw. It helps me to see the personality of the person or pet better. This is not a requirement. You can send only one per subject if you would rather.

Does the background on the photo matter?

No. The background on the photo can be changed. You may have a photo of your best friend, but your dirty laundry is in the background. If the face is up close and clear, it will make a good portrait.

How long will it take to get my portrait?

Please allow 4 to 8 weeks for delivery depending on the present work load. Rush orders needed earlier that 4 weeks are $25 extra. There are no rush orders in Nov. and Dec. due to the Christmas crunch. Portraits in Nov. and Dec. are done on a first come, first serve basis.

Can I get prints of my original portrait to share with family & friends?

You can get additional prints made of your original portrait. The artist owns the copyright on your original artwork, therefore, by law, you must go through her to get prints or copies made.

Will my portrait be framed?

Your portrait will come with acid free, charcoal matting and acid free foam board backing, sealed and protected by a crystal clear bag. Prices shown on the order form are for unframed original pencil portraits, however, portraits are presentable as a gift without framing. I do also offer framing as a convenience to my clients. Please contact Renee for frame pricing.

Should I order a Gift Certificate?

A gift certificate to Renee's Artworks is the perfect last minute gift. They are great at Christmas time when you may have trouble getting a portrait done in time. The other great thing about these gift certificates is that it puts the gift recipient in complete control of their portrait. No guessing on your part as to what subject they would like drawn. My gift certificates can also be used for purchasing frames and limited edition prints. You may choose the amount of your gift certificate.

How do I take care of my portrait?

To help preserve your one of a kind portrait, please remember the following:

1. Make sure your portrait is framed and matted with acid free material.
2. Clean your museum quality plexi-glass with water and a soft cloth (like a t-shirt) ONLY.
3. DO NOT use glass cleaner or paper towels on plexi-glass.
4. Most importantly, for your portrait and all pieces of art, keep out of the direct sun light.
