Awards and Accolades
Hockey Info...Luke Meyer has been the best player in the PLHL since he founded the league in 1990 and has shown no signs of slowing down. He is the career leader in points (136), goals (108), powerplay goals (4), and is tied for games played (44). Last year, he was the runner up for the Hart trophy in the closest MVP voting ever, marking only the second time he has not won the award. Naturally, he is looking to regain the award this season as he leads his team into battle for the 12th consecutive season. Despite losing the coveted MVP race, Luke was able to claim the Selke trophy this past season. Luke has always been known for his offensive supremacy, but some his defensive skills are often overlooked. Luke is the best at breaking up the breakaway and taking away the pass. With the addition of young offensive talent to his team, Luke can feel free to play more defense than he has in the past. Great players make those around them better and Luke has done just that, lifting the game of anyone he has played with over his 11 seasons. After suffering his first losing season, Luke has been developing a new game plan over the offseason and anything less than another championship will be considered a failure. After 11 years of play in the PLHL, one might think he would show some signs of slowing down, but he seems to get better and better every year. This season, most are predicting that Luke will claim his tenth Hart trophy this season while leading his team to the championship for the eleventh time in twelve seasons.
