Phil & Ken Playoff Pool 2002

$10 per entry. Get in as many times as you would like. The more the better. 1st. Place takes all. This is a winner take all, unless there is a tie. Then there would be a split. I can almost assure you that won’t happen though with having 3 tiebreakers. It’s simple; you pick the winners for the entire Playoffs all the way through the Super Bowl. There are 3 tiebreakers. The first one is the total combined points by both teams scored in the Super Bowl. The second tie breaker is the NFC points in the Super Bowl and the third tiebreaker is the AFC points in the Super Bowl. There are 4 rounds in the Playoffs totaling 11 games. The wildcard round (1st.), divisional round (2nd.), championship round (3rd.) and the Super Bowl (4th.). 3 points are awarded for correct picks in the 1st. round, 5 points for the 2nd. Round 10 points for the 3rd. Round and 20 if you get the Super Bowl winner correct. It’s possible to get 72 points if you pick all 11 games correct. Good luck with that. If there is a tie, then you go to the 1st. Tie breaker, then the 2nd. If needed, then the 3rd. If needed. Like I said, if there’s still a tie after that, there would be a split. That’s not likely at all though, but possible. Here’s the big thing though on picking the winners for each round. Most of you know this already, but for those of you who might not know how the Seeds work, this is for you. When you pick your first round winners, keep in mind that you have to seed your matchups correct going into the second round. Focus on the two #3, #6 Seed matchups in the NFC and AFC. This is what it depends on, not the #4, #5 Seed matchups. If you pick the #3 Seed team to win over the #6 Seed team in the first round of the playoffs, then that #3 Seed team you picked to win WILL play the #2 Seed Bye week team in the second round of the playoffs and the winner you choose in the #4, #5 Seed matchup WILL play the #1 Seed Bye week team in the second round of the playoffs. If you pick the #6 Seed team to win over the #3 Seed team in the first round of the playoffs, then that #6 Seed team you picked to win WILL play the #1 Seed Bye week team in the second round of the playoffs and the winner you choose in the #4, #5 Seed matchup WILL play the #2 Seed Bye week team in the second round of the playoffs. Do this in both the NFC and AFC part of the bracket. I know it sounds confusing, but if you read it 2 or 3 times, it makes sense. After the 2nd. round of the playoffs, it’s self-explanatory and you don’t need to worry about it. If you match up the wrong matchup in the 2nd. round, that’s your mistake and on you. NO exceptions. You could still end up picking the winner correct though even if that happens. Then you would be O.K. But it would eventually affect you in your bracket. This is why I explained how the Seeding process works. So those of you who don’t know how the Seeding process works have NO excuse because I just explained in detail how it works. Like I said, most or possibly all of you already know how it works, but this is just in case, and in case there was to be a complaint. It’s explained in detail, so I don’t know what to tell if you lose because of it. You’re SOL. Sorry. That’s how it is and you all are aware of it. Your picks and entry fee or fees are due by Friday night on January 3rd. at midnight to Kenny or myself so they can be posted and everyone can see who picked who on the website. So technically Friday at midnight is realistically Saturday morning. The games start like 12 hours after that, so it is a must. NO changing picks after that deadline. It’s the same deadline as the long running pools, only with this pool you make all of your picks through the entire playoffs and Super Bowl and pay only once for each entry by that deadline. That’s it. Thanks and good luck. You can call me or Phil to arange for money and pool dropoffs Ken 314-616-1801 Phil 636-343-1763
