On Saturday, March 8th we took a harbour highlights cruise that we recived free tickets for as part of the "program" we are here on. It lasted about an hour and a quarter and it was a beautiful clear day. First, we walked through the park and I made Brendan pose for photos so we'd look like tourists.

Leaving the dock

This is a ferry coming in to Circular Quay

Circular Quay

This is The World, one of the biggest and best cruise ships in the world. The commentator on the cruise told us that the worst, smallest cabin costs $1,000,000!

The lifeboats seen here hold 72 people each and have motors. This isn't your typical rubber raft!

There were a MILLION sailboats on the harbour that day. The cruise boat captain had to navigate through them and we had a pretty close call with one sailboat.

We took this ourselves. It came out pretty good though

The Maritime Museum near Darling Harbour

This submarine and that battleship (below) were parked out front. We'll try and go there at some point.

This is The Rocks and it's the oldest part of Sydney. Its located next to Circular Quay right before the Harbour Bridge. The First Fleet landed here with convicts, soldiers and officials in 1788. Most of the first structures were put up by convict labor around that time. 100 years ago The Rocks was overrun with disease, most inhabitants lived in rat infested slums and gangs ruled the streets. There is a street called Suez Canal used to be called "Sewer's Canal". Now it's tourist heaven!
