Chapter 5- The Jedi Awaits
Jonathon Thorn waited. He could sense the Dark Lords coming. He had his lightsaber in hand was ready.
Jonathon was a large man, about twenty-seven years old. This young man was specially trained by Luke several years ago. He had brown hair and purple eyes that corresponded with his purple lightsaber. His red and green cloak corresponded with his clothing. He was a smuggler at a young age, so he became accustomed to that type of clothing. His broad nose and chin stood out against his beard and moustache. He always had an air of dignity, bravery, and sensibility around him. His partner and girlfriend, Kelly Groundrunner, was a well-known smuggler who’s ship was now as famous as the Millenium Falcon.
Just a few hours before, Jonathon had left the Peregrine to investigate a disturbance he felt in the Force. Apparently what he had felt had been near the planet, not on it. Surprisingly warm on this ice planet, Jonathon kept searching. He at least wanted to find the old Rebel base destroyed so many years ago.
The Force tremored as Jonathon felt the Dark Lords move ever closer. He quickly found the entrance to the remains of the base and hid behind a stack of crates. His finger on the lightsaber switch, he watched as Vader and Blume approached. They were arguing.
“I am the Emperor’s Right Hand Man. He is training ME.”
Vader raised his filtered voice in anger. “No, I am his Right Hand Man. He has trained me and I am in total charge of his fleet.”
Blume smirked. “That’s just a ruse to convince you that you have power. As soon as your expendable, he will kill you.”
“The same for you, too. You forget I was here long before you and am much more experienced... Meaning less expendable.”
Blume gave a short laugh. “The times of Grand Admiral Thrawn and Grand Moff Tarkin are over. There is no Rebellion. All that are left of the Light Side are young and inexperienced.”
“That is where your ignorance lies. Skywalker was able to defeat the Emperor once. He is strong… but not invulnerable.”
Jonathon moved from a sitting position to a crouch… and knocked over a crate. “Sith!”
Vader and Blume ignited the sabers and lunged, but Jonathon was fast enough to ignite both ends of his lightstaff and blocked both attacks. The battle resembled that of Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Darth Maul so very very long ago.
But unlike that battle, Vader and Blume attacked each other as well, hoping to injure the other. Jonathon was stunned as he saw the two Sith bitterly attacking each other instead of him. Since they were distracted, he made his escape through a hole in the ceiling and contacted Kelly.
“Hey, Kel, come pick me up.”
“Small problem there, Johnny. There’s an Imperial Cruiser between me and the planet. Also, on the surface… I’m detecting Imperial Walkers.”
Jonathon cursed under his breath. Two Dark Jedi after me, some Imperial Walkers, and a Star Destroyer. Just great.
“Better close the comm-link before they detect us. Jonathon out.” He clipped his lightstaff to his belt and started to search for the base’s back door. He could still hear Vader and Blume fighting, and now they were arguing over who lost him. Jonathon shook his head and smiled.
All of a sudden, the ground shook. He looked up, and about five-thousand meters away were two All Terrain- Armored Transports and several All Terrain Scouting Transports. The AT-ATs loomed over the AT-STs. The new Imperial design included several blasters on top of the head rather than just below. A group of Snowtroopers were running ahead to scout for him. All of this for me. I must be a major threat…
