"It was said that one day, the aging countess was having her hair combed by a young servent girl. The girl accidently pulled her hair, and Elizabeth turned and slapped the servent. Blood was drawn, and some of it spurted onto Elizabeth's hands. As she rubbed it on her hands, they seemed to take on the girl's youthful appearance. It was from this incident that Elizabeth developed her reputation for desiring the blood of young virgins.
Elizabeth Bathory is known as one of the "True" vampires because she would kill young woman and bath in their blood. She is also known as the "Female Dracula" Elizabeth is normally seen as Hungarian but is actually more associated as Slovic Republican and she was raised in Transylvania.
In 1574 she became pregnant by a peasant man with whom she was having an affair with (I think the baby was givin up). In May of 1575 she married Count Nadasdy, her fiance, who was normally not at home thus leaving her to manage Castle Sarvar and this is where all her natorious deeds took place.
One torture tactics was to stick pins into sensitive body parts. Another one she used in the winter would be to strip her victems naked, lead them into the snow where they would be drenched with water until they froze. Elizabeth loved to whip her naked victems in the front rather than the baack because their was more damage done and she could also see their horrified faces. Supposedly the more shrill the screams of her victems got and the more blood that flowed the more she was arroused.
Elizabeth's cruelty was seen as worse than normal and was considered unnoteworthy by others in power. Eventually her husband joined in and taught her other ways of torture. HE came up with a summertime version of her freezing method in which they would strip women and cover them in honey and let them be eaten alive by insects.
When her husband died in 1604 she moved to Castle Cachtice located in Slovakia. This was the the location of her most infamous and brutal acts. She then took up a new partner in crime by the name of Anna Darvulia. She also got the idea to kill a few noble women from Ezzi Majorova. Elizbeth also had another trusty helper by the name of Dorotta Szentes. With her and her other helpers she began gathering the virgins at night.
When the virgins arrived at the castle they were hung upside-down dangling from chains wraped at their ankles. At this point they would still be alive and naked. After they were hung thier throats were slit so that the blood would drain and Elizbeth could take her bath in their blood.
The word of her cruel deads had spread fast and reached the Hungarian Emperor Matthais II. Mattais immediately orderd the Countes to be placed on a public trial. However because she was an arristocrat she could not be arrested. Because of this law the Parliment quickly passed a law that would reverse this right so that she couldn't escape from them.
In 1610 her trial took place and was conducted by Count Thurzo. A second trial took place on Jan. 7, 1611. By this time she had 650 victems. Elizbeth did not attend her trial for political reasons. The outcome of the trial was her accomplices were executed. She was accused of bieng both a werewolf and vampire. She was sentenced to solitary confinement for life, in her own castle, and died there years later on August 21, 1614.
It was said that Elizabeth Bathory was very attractive Elizabeth Bathory had long black hair and had a pale skin color. Her eyes were said to resemble that of a cat. She had very feminen features, she was also very slender and tall for the time. It was also said that she had a good figure. However she was extreamly vain. This is why she bathed in the blood, to keep her body young and beautiful.
After her trial her name was forbidden in polite society. After her death the records of the trial were sealed because they were very scandoulous.
