Claudia. Who among us today for whom I dictate this narrative, who among the modern audience who reads these tales as palatable fiction does not have in mind a vibrant picture of her, the golden-curled child vampire made by Louis and Lestat one wicked and foolish night in New Orleans, the child vampire whose mind and soul became as immense as that of an immortal woman while her body remained that of a precious all too perfect painted bisque French bebe doll?
(skip a little bit)
For many a year, she haunted me. I could not strike her from my mind the faltering image of her girlish head and tumbling curls fixed awkwardly with gross black stitching to the flailing, faltering and falling body of a female vampire whose discarded head I'd thrown into the fire.
There's not much I could really put for a history seeing that it wasn't written about however I guess I could give a short review of her time spent with Louis and Lestat.
Claudia was made by Lestat when Louis found her clinging to her dead mother and began to drink from her. Lestat came in during the process and began taughnting Louis because Louis was not found of drinking the blood of humans. Later on Lestat revealed to Louis that she was still alive and took him to go see her. There he made Claudia into a vampire.
They spent quite some time together and Lestat spoiled her giving her dolls, piano lessons, and expensive dresses. Louis showed her the same love that Lestat showed her. However her and Lestat shared the same passion for takeing life seeing they both liked to turn it into some kind of game. Anyway her and Lestat's loved turned sour and she began to plot his death.
After she had attempted her little plot at killing Lestat her and Louis planned to leave for Europe to find out more about vampires. However it wasn't until they reached Paris that they found them. There they met Armand and the vampires who made up The Theater des Vampires.
The vampires began to sence the betrayal of them to Lestat especially one named Santiago and he began to invesigate. Once he recieved the word from Lestat that Claudia had tried to kill them he captured Louis, Claudia, and Madeline from there home. Claudia had met her fate along with Madeline in the sun. That's about all I'm putting for now.
In Interview with the vampire she was played by Kirsten Dunst. Who did a wonderful preformance and won an MTV movie award for "best break through preformance" for the role.
In Tale of A Body Thief she appeared as a ghost to Lestat through out the book.
Claudia was resurected in Anne Rice's newest book Merrik.
Maker:Louis (drained her), and
Lestat (gave her his blood)
...she was a forbidden thing, a child immortal, too small, too fragile for all her charm and cunning to survive on her own. Ah, poor blasphemous and beauteous creature. Her soft monotone voice, issuing from diminutive and ever kissable lips, will haunt me forever.
