The Clover Connections 4-H Club met on Sunday, September 24, 2000. The Secretary, Samantha Bethards, called roll, and each member stated what they liked best about the fair. Cory Bethards led the club in the 4-H Pledge and the Pledge of Allegiance. The Vice President, Jenae Temple, then went over the current Treasurer’s report. The group discussed the fair, what they did and didn’t like, and suggestions they had for improving the fair. They then discussed what changes they would like to see in the club for the coming new year. It was decided that the club would participate in Community Service as their Club Activity. Poultry will be the club project, with members to each receive and successfully raise a chick of their choice (e.g., chicken, duck, goose) to adult, laying stage. The group decided to alternate meeting places for enhanced “hands-on” activities with the animal projects. Club activities were then discussed and it was decided that the club would attend the American Royal as a group on October 28, 2000, using funds earned throughout the year. This will be the first club activity, to be followed by a Halloween Party on October 21, 2000. A parent/new member orientation was scheduled for October 15, 2000, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting was adjourned and the members played several rounds of “Dog Bingo” to reinforce what they learned last year throughout their interaction in the Dog Project. Popcorn and iced tea were provided for snacks.
