As the first foot stepped into the trap
The rain of death could be heard, tap, tap, tap
From the left and from the right
The bullets took their deadly flight
Soldiers falling everywhere from officer to aide
The enemy elated with the victory to bee made
Confusion set in and the soldiers seemed lost
Not listening to the general or thinking of the cost
The enemy was accurate  and shot them one by one
Soon every horse backed officer’s life was done save one
This man had been ridding with his head held high
Transferring the generals orders as his colleagues died
Four holes in his jacket and two horses under him shoot
A retreat was soon called,  the fighting was for not
The troops lost the battle, the general himself was dead
Yet George Washington escaped with out a scratch on his head.
