50 Cent
"Power of the $"

It's been a long year for this
half a dollar emcee. He's had a
hit record "How to rob" he's
been dissed by most of the industries
to players and he was stabed by
someone in Ja Rules crew. But
besides all that hoopla 50 Cents has real
talent. I've heard about 4 or 5 track
from the CD and none were dissapointing.
But of course many Cd only have 4 or 5
good songs anyway so I could have just
heard the best of him, but Hopefully
it's not. Here's the tracklist

1. Intro
2. The Hit
3. The Good Die Young
4. Corner Bodega (Interlude)
5. Your Life's On The Line
6. That Ain't Gangsta
7. As The World Turns
8. Ghetto Qu'ran (Forgive Me Part 1)
9. Da Repercussions
10. Money By Any Means
11. Material Girl
12. Thug Love
13. Slow Doe
14. Gun Runner
15. You Ain't No Gansta
16. Power Of The Dollar
17. I'm A Hustler
18. How To Rob

In attempt to sustain the life of the one-joke wonder, initially cracking listeners up on Notorious B.I.G.'s Life After Death interludes, Deric "D-Dot" Angelettie shrewdly recruits a guest list longer than your local Club 54's. But even headliners like Ma$e, Tracey Lee and Puff Daddy can't distract from the Hitman's screechy alter-ego. At the risk of sounding like the madd writer, the Madd Rapper's Tell Em Why U Madd is more of a novelty record and six months from now will get as much rotation as a busted hoolahoop. In typical Madd Rapper style, seven of the disc's 24 selections are skits, but oddly and sadly enough, none of them are particularly funny. Things start off kind of promising with the unique "Dot vs. TMR," a dialogue between D-Dot and his more cartoonish twin supported by Silkk the Shocker's infectious "It Ain't My Fault" bass line. "Whateva" has Picasso Black shining on a tight strings and piano track arranged by D-Dot and Blake. And Busta Rhymes's wild antics helps "Bongo Break" and its familiar Annette Peacock "Survival" loop make the grade. But for the most part, these sample-heavy songs are best slept on. Tripe like "Too Many Ho's," featuring Jermaine Dupri & Lil' Cease give us the same ol-same ol. On the icky lovey-dovey "Not The One," Oh! Ficial has the nerve to offer such cliché garbage as "I'm movin' on up like George Jefferson." If he was any wacker, he'd have popped us like a pimple. D-Dot, former conscious rapper D.O.P. of the short-lived late-80s group 2 Kings In A Cipher, would have been wise to use his natural voice to break down his hardships on "Ghetto." A soulful composition aided by a decent Raekwon verse and the cool crooning of Carl Thomas loses impact when TMR's rap kicks in. Like Bobcat Goldthwait in a drama, it's difficult to take him seriously. On the up side, "Stir Crazy" wins because it sticks to TMR's strength: humor. The Madd (as in angry) Rapper battles the mad (as in missing some marbles) rapper Eminem to see who can write the most whacked-out verse. Madd Rapper punches with "Shot my girl and my sister 'cause I got 'em in bed" and Slim Shady counters with "I'll throw a stroller at you with a baby in it." The energy is only matched by the hilarity. The grande finale, 50 Cent's must-have "How To Rob," is laugh-out-loud material. In his eye-popping Trackmasters debut the half-dollar sticks everyone from Foxy Brown for the rock Kurupt gave her to Slick Rick "for all that old-school sh*t." Cracking on emcees like Jay-Z and Canibus, however humorous, may start some beef he c an't chew. Nevertheless, "How To Rob" proves 50 Cent to be funnier, more cutting-edge and, possibly madder than everyone's favourite player hater.
