PWL BIGTIME WRESTLING
MONDAY, JULY 1, 2002 - COLUMBUS, OHIO.
Your Announcers: MIKE HOFFMAN and GENE WEST.
Match Number One,
Ladies' World championship:
RUDI RAE MOORE (champion, with Human Tornado and Dolly Might) vs.
PHYLLIS D (challenger).
The former ladies' champion received a shot to regain that strap in the opening match. At more than one point, it appeared that Phyllis would indeed capture the gold a second time. Unfortunately for her and her fans, Rudi Rae's sheer power, combined with the shenanigans perpetrated by her cohorts at ringside, were too much for the former queenpin. Rudi Rae Moore pinned Phyllis D in 8:44 to retain the Ladies' World championship.
Match Number Two,
North American tag championship:
DONNIE GOSSETT and BLACKMALE BUCKEY, aka SOUL GLO (champions) vs.
SHAGGY and FREDDY (challengers).
Neither tandem was particularly popular with the fans, so most in attendance viewed the match in an objective manner, and were subsequently thrilled by the athleticism in the contest. Everybody else used the match as an opportunity to head for the pisser. Those who chose the latter absolutely must be kicking themselves, as they missed a surprising result. Shaggy pinned Blackmale Buckey (we're not sure why he was called that on this show) in 12:41 for the win and the titles. Your winners, and NEW North American tag champions, Shaggy and Freddy.
Match Number
Three, Unified tag championship:
ADRIAN QUEEN and WILD PANSY, aka The Pink Flamingos (champions,
with Prince Vicious) vs.
TANKA SATCHMO and RUSSELL BRUTE (challengers, with Mondo Mbamba).
On paper, it would appear that the brother team of Tanka and Russell would have a distinct advantage over the reigning UWF/CWA tag champions, Queen and Pansy. That assumption proved correct, as the challengers dominated this match. For some reason, this did not sit well with the World tag champions, AA. Justin Toxicated and Al Coholic saw fit to interfere in this match, and they did so one too many times. Referee Tom Tate decided it best to halt the match at 11:09. Satchmo and Brute were declared the winners thanks to disqualification. The champions and Prince Vicious were unfazed by this, as they were happy to escape with their titles.
Match Number Four,
World cruiserweight championship:
SMOOTH RUDY (champion, with Mondo Mbamba) vs.
T-BOY (challenger, with Bubba Shakespeare and Dwayne).
T-Boy was the surprise challenger in this cruiserweight title match, due to his winning a cruiserweight battle royale at a house show from some unknown date. Much like Human Tornado and Dolly Might did in the opening match, Bubba Shakespeare and Dwayne performed multiple dastardly tasks to help their friend win the coveted c-weight strap. Unlike Tornado and Dolly, Bubba and Dwayne's interference blew up in their faces, literally and figuratively. Dwayne never quite got the grasp of throwing fire, and wound up burning a hole in the mat on the ringside floor. Anyway, Smooth Rudy was just too bloody good to job to something called "T-Boy." Rudy pinned T-Boy in 10:55 to retain the World cruiserweight championship.
Match Number Five,
Quadruple Crown heavyweight championship:
SCHOOLHOUSE ROCKY (champion) vs.
DIRK MERCURY (challenger).
Schoolhouse Rocky and Dirk Mercury share a common enemy (The Terror), but it was all business between these two competitors in the match. After all, winning four championships in one fell swoop is too good an opportunity to miss. Perhaps Mercury was still stinging over his recent televised loss to The Terror, or maybe Schoolhouse Rocky was just too skilled a foe, but the champeen was consistently one step ahead of his challenger. Schoolhouse Rocky pinned Dirk Mercury in 14:14 to retain the Quadruple Crown heavyweight championship.
Match Number Six,
North American heavyweight championship:
WILSON FISK (champion) vs.
WEIRD HAROLD (challenger).
Weird Harold has been around the PWL for several years now. Of all the members of the Fat Albert Gang, Harold has probably been the one to receive the least amount of the PWL spotlight. That would all change if he could topple the Kingpin and win the NA title. Alas, Wilson Fisk is, to say the least, a gargantuan beast compared to most folk, much less Weird Harold. Fisk's considerable girth was more than plenty to confound Weird Harold, who put up a swell fight nonetheless. Wilson Fisk pinned Weird Harold in 10:33 to retain the North American heavyweight championship.
Match Number
Seven, World tag championship:
JUSTIN TOXICATED and AL COHOLIC, aka AA (champions, with John
Barleycorn) vs.
CHARLES NELSON MANSON and GRAVY TRAIN GLUTZ (challengers).
After holding the UWF and CWA tag championship several times, Charles and Gravy finally received a shot at the big one, the World tag championship. Oh sure, they may have received shots at the World title before, and perhaps they were even televised, but that isn't getting in the way of this story. So, Justin and Al were cruising along in their title defense, when Tanka Satchmo and Russell Brute showed up at ringside for some revenge. After constant bickering between Mondo Mbamba and John Barleycorn, Justin and Al decided to put their match aside and fight with Tanka and Russell. The champs were counted out, and Charles Nelson Manson and Gravy Train Glutz were declared the winners (though not new champions) at 8:55.
Match Number
Eight, Tee-Vee Main Event, World heavyweight championship:
COOLEROY (champion) vs.
FAT ALBERT (challenger).
These two have squared off for the World championship several times before, but it just never seems to get old. Cooleroy has been a dominant champ for over a year now, turning back most every challenger he has faced. Exterminans chatted at ringside with Mike and Gene during this match. He pointed out that Cooleroy did not beat him last week, and with the help of his mentor Joe The Giant, the World title would soon be his. Meanwhile, in the match, Cooleroy outdid his previous performances against Fat Albert, and scored the win via pinfall at 9:41. Thus, Cooleroy retained the World heavyweight championship.
