PWL BIGTIME WRESTLING
MONDAY, APRIL 29, 2002 - DENVER, COLORADO.
Your Announcers: MIKE HOFFMAN and GENE WEST.
Match Number One,
Ladies tag match:
EVE OF DESTRUCTION (Women's World champion) and DARK CRYSTAL vs.
PHYLLIS D and WEEZIE.
This bout featured the TV debut of the mysterious Dark Crystal, in addition to the televised return of former champion Phyllis D. Though the title was not up for grabs, Phyllis gained a measure of revenge for losing the championship at WrestleRama 16. She pinned Eve of Destruction to win the match for Weezie and herself. Time of the match was 6:44.
Mike Hoffman conducted an interview with World heavyweight champion COOLEROY. Cooleroy said that last week's bout against Starshine Hippie was one of the toughest during his reign as World champion. "With wrestlers like Schoolhouse Rocky, The Terror, and Wilson Fisk hanging about, it would be crazy to take any competitor lightly. PWL 24 is closer than you think, Mike, and any one of those guys are primed and ready to win this gold belt."
Match Number Two:
CHARLES NELSON MANSON and GRAVY TRAIN GLUTZ vs.
ADRIAN QUEEN and WILD PANSY aka THE PINK FLAMINGOS (with Prince
Vicious).
After a few TV victories, the Pink Flamingos entered this match with a very brash attitude. Their crazed opponents brought them back down to Earth afterwards. Prince Vicious realized that his men, though full of potential, still need time to become an elite tandem. Manson pinned Pansy in 10:55 in what many believed to be an excellent contest.
Match Number Three: A. PURPLEGRAPE vs. VERDUGO.
Another in the PWL's continuing series of future wrestling stars. With the PWL's public relations machine behind them, there's no way either Purplegrape or Verdugo can fail in their mission to become wrestling greats. On this night, it was Purplegrape's time to shine, as he pinned Verdugo in 11:24 in an extremely watchable bout.
Match Number Four: SWAMI YOGANTI vs. FENWICK SHROYER.
The devious swami pulled out all the stops in this bout against Fenwick, one of the several talented Shroyer wrestling family. Fenwick's scientific ability was just enough to overcome Yoganti's loutish tactics. Shroyer pinned Yoganti after 10:37 of in-ring merriment.
Match Number Five,
World cruiserweight championship:
BILLY RAY VALENTINE, CAPRICORN (champion) vs.
BUBBA SHAKESPEARE (challenger, with Dwayne and T-Boy).
The bizarre Shakespeare and his filthy cronies succeeded in one thing, to cause the fans to cheer for Valentine, who has been attempting a flamboyant heel persona for the past few weeks. The match was halted at 11:11 after several instances of interference from Dwayne and T-Boy, and referee Tom Tate awarded the victory to defending champ Valentine. This will doubtlessly result in many Billy Ray-Bubba title matches on the house show circuit.
Match Number Six: DER
NORSELANDER vs.
SKOONER, THE WRESTLING LOSER.
Skooner's suffix is a misnomer, generaly speaking. It fit him in the standings as a result of this match, although he put forth extraordinary effort. Der Norselander was on the beam, defeateing Skooner via submission (with the double-arm chicken wing) in 9:49.
Match Number Seven,
World tag championship:
JUSTIN TOXICATED and AL COHOLIC aka AA (champions) vs.
BUTCH and BAMM-BAMM HORNER aka THE FABULOUS HORNER BROTHERS
(challengers, with Mother Horner).
The current World champions battled the former North American champions in this battle. Even though their names suggest otherwise, Justin and Al were clearly sober and focused for this bout. AA retained the World titles, as Justin pinned Butch in 13:57.
Match Number Eight,
Quadruple Crown heavyweight championship:
SCHOOLHOUSE ROCKY (champion) vs.
SUPER HEAVY (challenger, with Sweet Daddy Williams).
We're not quite sure what Super Heavy has done recently to derseve a shot at four heavyweight titles simultaneously, but he appeared in good shape for the bout. Rocky was not just in good shape, though, he was in better grappling shape than Super Heavy. Despite the chicanery of Sweet Daddy and Super Hornet, Schoolhouse Rocky pinned Super Heavy in 13:19 to retain the Q-Crown.
