PWL FRIDAY FUNKENSTEIN

FROM SPLUNGE ARENA, OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA - APRIL 7, 2000.

CURTAIN JERKER MATCHES:

The Terror cut a promo in which he proclaimed himself the "best World champion this pile of puke has ever seen." Cue PWL President Gene West, who informed the champion that he would defend the belt later in the evening against Skeletor.

Match Four, Women's World championship: DARK ANGEL (champion) vs. AUNT RHODY (challenger). Thumbelina suffered an injured shoulder at WrestleRama 14, so her feisty manager took her place in this title bout. While Rhody put up more of a fight than was expected, Dark Angel had no problem disposing of her latest victim, pinning Rhody in 3:16.

Match Five, Midgets' World championship: NAUGA (champion) vs. KID DY-NO-MITE (challenger). This contest was interrupted about three minutes in when CAP'N CRUNCH appeared from the crowd, demanding that Nauga hand over the championship belt. The Cap'n then spit Crunch Berries on a rather large fan seated near ringside, causing the fan to chase Crunch out of sight. Back to the match, Nauga survived to defend the title another day, pinning the Kid in 4:55.

Match Six: SCHOOLHOUSE ROCKY vs. HULK BIXBY. Quoth the SHR, "The Schoolhouse Rock knows damn well that he is far more deserving than the sixth match on this miserable show. Bixby, the Schoolhouse Rock finds it quite interesting, he's going to beat your carcass in this filthy ring." The SHR's pre-match spiel made Hulk Bixby the clear face in this match, and Bixby dominated the early-going. SHR rebounded quickly, however, and upended the former World champion, pinning Hulk in 5:40.

Match Seven: THE ELECTRIC MAYHEM (DR. TEETH, FLOYD PEPPER, and ANIMAL, w/ ESMERALDA and ZOOT "The Sexiest Muppet in the World") vs. LONG SWEET LIPS (M. KLEATS, FOOT, and TANKA SATCHMO, w/ MONDO MBAMBA). The six-man tag match was a complete donnybrook, as each wrestler and their entourages went to battle from the outset. It was a bloodbath in the ring, and a major fistfight outside, as Mondo and Zoot beat each other senseless. Before he was knocked out cold, referee BURT COOPER declared the match a no-contest in 6:36.

Match Eight, North American tag team championship: RUFUS VAN PELT and BILLY JO JIVE (champions, w/ "Sweet" SUSIE SUNSET) vs. BUTCH and BAMM-BAMM HORNER (challengers). This was actually a two-on-one match, as Bamm-Bamm left the PWL earlier in the week, leaving Butch as the sole surviving Horner. Definitely no match for the wily champions, as RVP scored the victory with a previously-unseen 450-splash from the top, and the pin in 2:57. As the champions left, the former OLD WEIRD HORNER went to the ring and grabbed the mic. "Ladies and gentleman, the Horners are the past, they are the old regime in the PWL. Let me introduce you to the family of originators, not imitator. I give you... THE SHROYER FAMILY!" And with that, several wrestlers of all shapes and sizes (later revealed by Weird Harold to be IGGY, SIGGI, FIGGY, FRANKIE, and FENWICK SHROYER) swarm about the ring, further assaulting Butch Horner.

Match Nine: BIG SID SMITH "The Neighborhood Bully" (w/ "Mean Old" MR> McMASTER) vs. SETH. This battle of the PWL behemoths was staged all over the Splunge Arena, with fans scrambling out of the way of the monstrous war. Big Sid claimed the win with a Bully Spike and pin in 9:33, but Seth was able to open several cuts on Smith's forehead and arms, thereby signaling a personal W for Seth.

Match Ten, World tag team championship: THE PILLARS OF PAIN (GOLEM and QUARTZ, champions, w/ CAP'N CRUNCH) vs. NC-17 (DIRK MERCURY and TRIPLE X, challengers). In this two-team matchup, the odds seemed more even than in the WR14 bout for the tag straps. Dirk and X scored several two-counts and near-submissions on the World champions. POP were able to successfully defend their gold. That may not sound surprising, but take into consideration the fact that Cap'n Crunch interfered on the champs' behalf, and it worked. Crunch pushed Mercury off the ropes as he was attempting a Bread Shot. Quartz turned the situation into a jumping DDT, and picked up the win in 13:13.

Match Eleven, North American heavyweight championship: COOLEROY (champion) vs. STARSHINE HIPPIE (challenger). This was a golden opportunity for the World cruiserweight champion. He had everything to gain and nothing to lose in this match, where the NA champ was slightly (95 pounds) over the 225-pound cruiserweight limit. Unfortunately for the Hippie, he hd no chance to utilize his always-dreaded SHSHoTP, as Cooleroy retained his title with a top-rope clothesline and pin in 11:22.

Match Twelve, World heavyweight championship: THE TERROR (champion, w/ DARK --ANGEL) vs. SKELETOR (challenger, w/ ORKO). Greyskull's finest pulled out everything in his wrestling arsenal against the World champion, and he had Terror on the run for much of this mztch. As Orko and the fans cheered him on to victory, the revelry was interrupted by the appearance of GRIMACE, who seemed to have a bone to pick with both competitors. He first attempted to gain the attention of Terror by lecherously approaching Dark Angel. Terror noticed, but figured the Women's champion could easily defend herself against a purple God-knows-what. Not satisifed, Grimace decide to chase little Orko around ringside. This did raise the ire of the babyfaced Skeletor, who tried to stop the marathon outside the ring, but instead was blindside by The Terror. With this great opportunity, the World champ wasted no time in wearing down his foe, and easily placing his beskeletoned opponent in the Terror Spike. Three quick seconds later, and The Terror is still your World heavyweight champion, winning via pinfall in 8:19.

The show ended with Skeletor chasing Grimace chasing Orko to the back of the place, and Terror making generally offensive comments regarding Oklahomans and the lack of clean towels in his dressing room. He then drank a can of 7-Up and tossed the can in the face of announcer GUY SMILEY, resulting in one of KERMIT THE FROG's trademark looks of disgust.
