PWL SuperCage Results for June 19, 1999.

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
PLAGUE (champion) vs.
THE TERROR (challenger).
Referee: GENE WEST.

Terror enters the cage first, to loud booing and jeering from those in attendance.  He obtains the house mic and shouts an obscenity-laced tirade before popping open his trademark 7-Up.  World champion Plague enters the cage, to huge cheering and applause.  Plague shares equally adult language to the crowd, but they seem to enjoy his words more than those of the challenger.  Gene West calls the bell, and the match is underway!

Standard lock-up to begin.  After several seconds of feeling out the opponent, both men go to work.  Plague with a kick to the gut, staggering Terror.  Punches and elbowsmashes follow, then a vertical suplex to the floor.  plague stands over Terror, the fans cheering wildly.  Plague scoops up Terror, and continues the assault.  More punches, followed up with Terror's face introduced to the cage.  Ten headsmashes into the cage later, and Terror is already a confused wreck.  Plague knows he is far from finished, though, and whips terror around.  Terror is met with a boot to the face, and he falls to the floor.  First pin attempt, but Terror kicks out at two.  Plague stands, walks to the edge of the cage, and attempts a running legdrop.  Terror is able to kick out of the way.  Terror tries a standing elbowdrop, but this time it is the champ who rolls out of harm's way, and Terror is once again sprawled on the floor.  Plague catches Terror off-guard with a kick to the midsection.  Plague picks up Terror, then its right back down, this time with a powerslam.  1, 2, but Terror is out and the match continues.

Plague senses time for a rest, and slaps on a headlock on the challenger.  This lasts about one minute, then Plague is back for more action.  Unfortunately for the champion, so is Mr. Terror, who positions himself for a well-placed kick to the back of Plague's right knee.  The champion staggers, Terror wyrms out of the headlock, and knocks Plague down with a dropkick.  Plague falls to the floor with a loud thud, and the crowd lets out a collective groan.  Terror thus takes control of the match.  He rolls Plague over to the side of the cage, and starts the face rucb treatment.  Plague's head is busted open easily, and Terror howls with glee over his opponent's predicament.  He helps Plague off the floor, and taunts him with right and left jabs to the head, following that with a barrage of backhand chops.  Terror whips Plague into the cage, and attacks him with a running elbow.  Terror then trips the disoriented champion, and Plague falls to the floor once again.  Terror does not try a pin attempt here, instead going for leg weardown tactics.  Several kneesmashes to both legs of Plague, and Terror senses that the World championship may change hands shortly.  Terror lifts Plague's legs, and clamps on the dreaded Super 4, made famous by the legendary Joe the Giant.  Plague screams in pain, something unheard of in his PWL stay, perhaps even his entire wrestling career.  Gene West repeatedly asks him to submit, knowing full well the effects of a Super 4 properly executed.  Plague lifts his shoulders several times, as Gene West makes several two counts.  The crowd is nervous, as they have not seen the huge champion in this shape.  Finally, with one last burst of energy, Plague pulls his legs in, then back out sharply.  The move works, Terror is flung off of Plague and he lands on the floor.  Plague takes this opportunity to rest up quickly, and he attempts to mount another offense while Terror is also on the floor.

Plague gets to his feet, closely followed by The Terror.  Terror tries a punch to the face, but is blocked.  A second time, same result.  Third time attempt, but Plague grabs Terror's fist, and punches Terror himself with it.  Terror falls to the floor, but Plague retrieves him.  A scoop slam, followed by a crushing legdrop, but Terror kicks out of the proceeding pin at two.  Terror is able to catch Plague with a rake to the eyes, and terror gets to his feet while the champion is temporarily incapicitated.  Terror comes back with some more backhand chops. After the fifth one, Plague stares terror straight in the eyes, shaking his head.  Terror retreats, almost begging for mercy, but Plague gives him none.  Plague grabs Terror, and whips him into the cage.  Terror bounces back, and is met with a big DDT by the World champion.  Plague turns Terror over, and Gene West makes the count.  Only a two, though, as the challenger still has a bit of fight left in him.

Plague, and the fans, are a bit startled by the tenacity of the challenger.  Plague doesn't miss a beat, and goes back to work.  He stuns Terror with a mighty German suplex, further wearing down the Illinois native.  Plague grabs Terror's legs, and slingshots him face first into the cage.  This causes the busting open of the forehead, and the drunken rowdies in attendance get what they paid to see: both champion and challenger wearing the ol' crimson mask.  Plague lands a kneedrop on Terror's chest, and tries a pin again.  Once again, it's one, two, kick out for Terror.  Plague lifts Terror up, and continues the, uh, carnage.  Several headsmashes into the cage, a few at head level, more at gut-level, and a few more a feet level, almost like the three turnbuckles in a standard match.  Plague takes Terror by the arm, and whips him into the cage once more.  This time, however, Terror gets a burst of energy, walks up about two feet of cage, and bounces back, catching the burly Brit with a flying bodypress.  Plague is stunned, dazed.  Gene West makes the count.  One, two, ... NO! Plague is able to muscle out of it.  Terror seizes the opportunity, though.  He nails Plague with several kicks to the midsection, following up with a huge somersault, landing back-first onto the champion.  Another count, another kick out at two.  Plague is confused, unsure of what is going on.  Terror lifts him off the floor, and he connects with a DDT of his own.  Two slaps of the mat later, and both wrestlers are still at it.  Terror whips Plague into the cage, but Plague reverses it.  Terror goes into the cage.  Plague charges toward him, but Terror quickly moves away, and the champion is met by the unforgiving SuperCage.  Plague is completely disoriented, and Terror knows this may be the best chance to finish him off.  Almost in the blink of an eye, it happens.  Pick up by Terror, and it's...

TERROR SPIKE!  Plague is down, and he ain't moving!.  Plague's shoulders are placed on the floor, Terror makes the cover.  Gene West makes the count, and the fans are stunned into near-silence.   1... 2...

PLAGUE KICKS OUT!  Barely he does it, but he does it nonetheless!  Plague kicks out after a Terror Spike!.  Terror is shocked.  He gets up, screaming and flailing his arms at nothing in particular.  He regains his composure, and turns around.  He leans Plague up against the cage, and starts punching and kicking away at the World champion.  Terror, at one point, attempts a good, old fashioned kick to the groin.  Plague, though groggy, sees this move, and slaps Terror's foot out of the way, and Terror ends up kicking the cage.  As Terror yowls in agony, Plague is able to take time and push for another offense.

Terror gets up, but is met by a resurgent Plague.  The World champion connects with his own brand of backhand chops.  The Terror staggers, and Pague gives him a kick if not in the groin, bery bloody close to it.  This sets up Plague perfectly for a DDT.  Terror falls to the ground in a heap.  Plague scoops up Terror, same kick, another DDT.  Third time, though, Terror is ready for it.  Plague kicks him, but Terror puts his head back up.  Ah, but Plague is ready as well, and gives Terror a taste of some British knuckles.  Bloodied even further, Terror is unable to prepare himself for yet another boot to the greater breadbasket region.  No DDT follow-up this time, as Plague puts Terror in posistion for, and connects mightily with...

THE RUNNING POWERBOMB!  Terror's head hits the floor with a sickening thud, and the audience is simultaneously elated and horrified.  Plague covers Terror, hooks the leg, and Gene West to the floor with the count: 1... 2...

NO SIR!  Terror kicks out of this one, and the fans are in disbelief that these two have put each other through such misery and still be ablr to continue.  Plague hits a Russian legsweep, and continues to control the offense in the match.  Both men are tired, however, and Terror is able to counter Plague's maneuvers.  Plague and Terror trade offensive blows back and forth, and neither is backing down an inch.  Gene West is standing back, amazed at what these two can pull out of seemingly nowhere.  As they trade punches, Terror makes a crucial move.  Plague reaches back for a punch, but Terror ducks.  Plague tries again, Terror ducks a second time.  The missed punches cause Plague to slightly lose his balance, but it's a big enough edge for Terror.  As Plague stumbles once, and only once, Terror gets in position, and attempts the Terror Spike once more.  Alas, the weight is too much for Terror's lack of energy at this point in the match, but before Plague can retaliate, he is set down by Terror, who leaps up, and catches Plague with a double-arm DDT.  The force of the move causes both Plague and Terror to bounce up slightly.  Terror moves, lifts Plague up slightly, and get enough for a small package rollup.  The move is locked on tightly, and Gene West makes the count: 1... 2...

THREE!  Shockingly, amazingly, stupefyingly, Terror's move works, and West had no choice but to make that three count.  Terror staggers to a corner of the cage, and Plague does likewise.  West tells the story to ring announcer Guy Smiley, who makes the announcement:  As a result of a pinfall, the winner and new world's champion, The Terror!  The crowd is shocked, many not knowing what to believe.  Plague finally gets to his feet.  He sees The Terror, dazed but in a celebratory mood, with the World heavyweight championship belt in his possession.  Plague smirks, shakes his head.  He is not surprised by the ability of the new champion, but still the sight of him as World champion leads to a combination of confusion, bemusement, and perhaps even a bit of disappointment.  This was by far the best match out of the Terror so far in the PWL, and it may very well have been the best we have seen out of Plague as well.  The scene ends with Plague and the CMI heading to the back to the cheers of the crowd.  The PWL fans know full well that Plague will once again be on top soon, it's only a matter of when.  The PIT, meanwhile, celebrate in the cage, as Gene West walks off, disgusted that he was forced to make the unbiased call in this match.  Terror, Dark Angel, and the rest of the PIT pop open 7-Ups aplenty, as the cage is littered with soda cans and Cap'n Crunch cereal.  Thus ends the week of the SuperCage.
