FORT WORTH -- Goalie Marten Engren recorded his second shutout of the season as the monroe Moccasins blanked Fort Worth 4-0 on Sunday.
Engren stopped 22 shots as the Mocs won for the first time in more than a week.
"He played a very good game," Mocs defenseman/ assistant coach Russ Parent said. "He was great. He got down on the puck when he needed to, he moved the puck well and he looked excellent."
Parent was one of four players who chipped in goals for Monroe, which improved to 7-2-1 with 15 points to remain atop the Western Professional Hockey League's Eastern Division.
"(Matt) Cressman and (Bill) McKay had great games there," Parent said.
The games was marred by 106 minutes of penalties and the ejection of three players.
Monroe got two goals in the first period from Cressman and Darren Dougan. Parent added a power play goal late in the second period.
"It really wasn't a shot, but a pass to McKay," Parent said. "He was by the net and they were pressing up top so I passed him the puck. But the goalie was screened and it trickled into the net near the end of the period.
Ty Hartigan added the Mocs' final goal in the third period.
Monroe continues its three-game road trip Wednesday at Austin at 7:30 p.m.
