The loss was the second in a row for the Mocs and ended their five-game road winning streak. It also dropped them into a first-place tie in the Western Professional Hockey League Eastern Division with Lake Charles. Both have 21 points.
Arkansas scored 39 seconds into the game on a goal by Richard Uniacke, and added another less than four minutes later by Brian Secord.
Arkansas added two second-period goals for a 4-0 lead before Monroe's Darren Dougan scored at the 16:16 mark of the second period. Dorian Anneck added a third-period goal for Monroe.
"They got a couple of quick goals on us," Mocs coach Brian Curran said. "They came out and played really physical."
Monroe will be at home Tuesday against Shreveport at 7 p.m.
