Dorian Anneck scored three goals for the hat trick to lead the Moccasins to a 5-3 road victory over Tupelo, ending the Mocs" two-game losing streak.
Monroe finishes the regular season with a 39-25-6 record and 84 points to place third in the Eastern Division of the Western Professional Hockey League. The wins and points are franchise records.
Monroe, the No. 4 seed in the Eastern bracket of the President's Cup playoffs, opens post-season play at home Tuesday at 7 p.m. against the Arkansas GlacierCats, who beat Lake Charles 5-3 Sunday to beat out Tupelo for the No. 5 seed.
The Mocs and GlacierCats will play the second game of the best-of-3 series Thursday in Little Rock. A third game, if necessary, will be Friday in Monroe.
The Moccasins wasted little time Sunday jumping all over the T-Rex (31-28-11, 73 points).
Shawn Redmond put Monroe on the board just 3:37 into the game, firing a shot from the left circle over the glove of Tupelo goalie Roby Gropp. Rob Szatmary and Jami Yoder assisted.
Anneck, who has 89 points on the season, scored two of his three goals just over a minute apart in the first period to put the Mocs ahead 3-0. Rod Hinks and Russ Parent assisted on the first one at 5:13, and Hinks and Yoder got the assist on the second Anneck goal at 6:29.
Joe Van Volson scored at the 8:28 mark to make it 3-1.
The Monroe line of Anneck, Hinks and Dougan was productive with three goals from Anneck, three assists from Hinks and an assist from Dougan.
After a scoreless second, Monroe took control with an Anneck goal at 13:11 of the third period and a Bill McKay goal at 16:57 for a 5-1 lead before Tupelo added two late goals.
