Road remains good

The Monroe Moccasins clinched the advantage against Alexandria it the second period Thursday before sealing a 4-1 road win in the third.

Jason Smith be gan collecting goals for the Mocs with a power-play goal 56 seconds into the second period after a scoreless first. But the Warthogs knotted it up at 7:14.

However, recent trade acquisition Shawn Redmond netted a short-handed goal, his second goal in three games, to put Monroe up again.

In the third period Dorian Anneck and Bill McKay scored to provide some security for the victory. With their fifth defeat of Alexandria, the mocs bumped their road record to 18-7-2 for the season.

It also marked goaltender Marten Engren's (34-18-5) fifth win in his last seven starts.

Monroe will take on Alexandria again on the road Saturday.
