Lubbock trips Mocs

The Monroe Moccasins' trip to Texas continued to be a bummer, as the Mocs fell to the Lubbock Cotton Kings 5-2 on Friday.

Monroe, despite two goals from Lukas Smital, dropped its third straight game, this time to the WPHL's second-highest scoring team.

The Cotton Kings jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period and a 3-2 lead after two. But 20 shots on goal on Monroe goalie Marten Engren in the final period was too much to overcome. Lubbock outshot Monroe 43-32 for the game.

Monroe's Dorian Anneck had an assist on both of Smital's goals. Jason Smith and Matt Cressman added an asist each.

Monroe faces San Angelo today at 7 p.m. before returning home for a Wednesday game.
