Mocs back in second

Monroe storms past Arkansas for second straight victory, 4-3

The Monroe Moccasins used some more third-period magic to knock off Arkansas for a 4-3 win Sunday in Little Rock, Ark.

With their Western Professional Hockey League-best 10th win when trailing after two periods, the Moccasins (36-20-6, 78 points) moved into solee possession of second place in the Eastern Division, two points ahead of Lake Charles. Unfortunately for the Moccasins, they could not gain any ground on first-place Shreveport (85 Points), which defeated Alexandria 5-2 on Sunday.

Monroe, which clinched a playoff spot with its 7-0 home win over the Mudbugs on Saturday, got into a quick hole in Sunday's game against the GlacierCats (27-26-9).

After Shawn Redmond put Monroe ahead 1-0 with a first-period goal, Arkansas scored three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead.

Monroe's Dorian Anneck made it 3-2 on a power-play goal midway through the second period to set up the final period rally.

Jeff Pawluk tied the game at 3-all three minutes into the period, and Bill McKay scored the game-winner four minutes later.

Redmond had another big game, finishing with a goal and three assists Sunday, a day after picking up two goals and an assist against Shreveport.

Mocs goalie Clint Owen also had a strong night, making 24 saves, 12 in the final period.

the Mocs will visit Tupelo on Tuesday a 7:05 p.m. in the second of their five-game road trip.
