Moccasins explode in third for 4-1 win

The Monroe Moccasins blew open a tight game Tuesday with a four-goal outburst in the final period to grab a 4-1 road victory over Odessa.

The Moccasins picked up goals from Kelvin Solari, Ty Hartigan, Lukas Smital and Darren Dougan, all on even-strength goals, to keep pace with the streaking Shreveport Mudbugs in the Eastern Division.

Smital scored his fifth goal in three games at the 17:26 mark, coming just 2:26 after Hartigan's game winner.

The win gives the Mocs a 2-0-1 record on their four-game road trip, which concludes today in Amarillo at 7 p.m.

Marten Engren got the win in net, allowing just one of the Jackalopes' 24 shots into the net. Engren faced just five shots in the final period, making the victory a little easier.
