News by "The News-Star" Monroe, Louisiana
But clean doesn't always equal a win as the Mocs dropped a 4-3 shootout road loss to the Buzzards.
After Monroe (26-14-2) was penalized 14 times Friday, it was called for only five penalties on Saturday.
Kelvin Solari and Darren Dougan each had a goal and an assist for the Mocs, but it was not enough as they let a 3-2 third-period lead slip away. They were also outshot 14-6 in the final period. Lukas Smital, who had a hat trick on Friday, had the other Monroe goal Saturday.
A positive for Monroe was the conversion of two of its four power-play chances against El Paso (22-16-4).
Monroe stays on the road traveling to Odessa for a Tuesday matchup at 7:05 p.m.
