Basilio stopped 39-of-40 Moccasins shots, propelling Alexandria to a 4-1 win over Monroe in the Snake Pit on Sunday afternoon.
The Warthogs won despite being outshot 40-18, including 31-6 over the last two periods.
"It wasn't easy," Basilio said. "They had a lot of pressure on me. I just had to concentrate on every shot and hope we scored more than I let go in."
Monroe played Sunday without the services of four forwards, who combined for 145 of the Mocs' 487 total points entering the game. Missing from the lineup were Matt Cressman, Ty Hartigan, Darren Dougan and Kelvin Solari, all nursing varios injuries.
The absence of those four has Monroe coach Brian Curran playing defensemen at forward as Jason Smith and Brendan Kenny spent most of their time upfront rather than defending.
The strategy, which worked in the Mocs' 3-2 shootout win at Central Texas on Saturday, continued to work. But three games in three days had a big effect on the weary travelers.
"Last night was incredible," Curran said. "We got a great effort from every single player. I can't use this as an excuse , but when you're missing a big portion of your offense, it's tough to deal with."
It didn't stop the Mocs and the Warthogs, who were also shorthanded, from skating to a 1-1 tie after the first period.
Alexandria's Daniel Korber and Monroe defenseman Jeff Pawluk each tallied goals during the period. Then came the second period.
"We totally dominated in the second period," Curran said. "When you have the puck in someone's end as much as we did in the second, including having Lukas Smital in the slot with several good chances, It's tough."
The Mocs came out with abandon in the second period, but came up empty handed. Monroe outshot Alexandria 19-3 for the period, but the Warthogs took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.
Agian in the third period the Mocs outworked the Warthogs, outshooting Alexandria 13-3. But with Basilio standing tall in the net, the Warthogs took advantage of their only chance and put the game away.
Monroe couldn't take advantage of its point-blank opportunities or on its five power-play chances. Monroe went 0-for-5 with the man advantage.
Despite the setback, Monroe's first after posting consecutive shootout wins over San Angelo and Central Texas, Curran was happy with the way his team played.
"We can't do anything about the injuries," Curran said. "But if we work as hard as we did the last three games, and get some players back healthy, and they work as hard as they can, we're going to be tough to beat."
